For the money, this was the best pair of headphones I could find with a flat response for mixing of recordings. They do not exaggerate the high or low end so much like most others do, and they can take high volumes - though I don't recommend that for anyone who enjoys music and plans on hearing it far into the future. Since they are VERY tightly closed to your ears (not uncomfortably I must add), they keep outside noise out pretty well - but also because of this the low end seems slightly elevated above flat. Overall, I am happy with them for mixing and recording of tracks, etc. Normal listening would be ok as well, unless you like hyper-bass - which I don't. You would have to spend significantly more (like double) to get a better quality flat response from headphones from what I've seen and heard while shopping around for them.

well first of all
i looked for cheap monitor headphone but the phone has wide range.
then i picked up this model and then i tested with macbook pro, mbox, axiom and my guitars. but unfortunely this phone give me a little bit warm sound.
but those frequency a live. so, this is good.

) Best sounding headphones for the money that I have found. We have about 10 sets that take a lot of punishment in our recording studio. We have never had a problem with any of them and our clients always comment on how good they sound.

ATH-M40fsFor the price, these headphones are unbeatable. Nice FLAT response. They have made the tasks of tracking and mixing in my humble home studio a pleasantry. I was once convinced that a good set of monitoring headphones was well beyond the $100 or less range. I was wrong. These phones way out-perform many in the studio of my recording/production class. Some of those sets are "worth" (retail) more than three times the price these. Other students have been asking to use mine for mixing. My only gripe, the rubberized faux leather coating will eventually crack and peel. However, I have noticed this is a common problem with headphones in general, even with those at a much higher price point.
