I wanted a piece of the history of our next U.S. President! Barack Obama is the man, and it is my personal opinion that this book should be taught in High School.

Someone suggested I read this book so I purchased it from ebay to save money. I wanted to understand why I should vote for this man for President. I did not read any other books on this subject.

The book: I found this book to be disappointing. For the most part it was a day to day description about how this author was elected to a Senate seat. The book then became a daily diary of who the author met with and talked to. The one chapter I read very carefully was called "Race." I found his discussion of this topic to be very condescending and presumptive that the black American is unable to partake of the American Dream without Government interveniton. Obama states: "While my own upbringing hardly typifies the African American experience--and although, largely through luck and circumstance, I now occupy a position that insulates me from most of the bumps and bruises that the average black man must endure--" This is the source of his Elitism. Obama does not seem to recognize that he alone was responsible for making his life what it is and that every man/woman black or white has the same opportunity! "Whether you think you can or you think you can't..you are right!" Henry Ford.

  The Human Side of Politics

Having read this book, I now understand the internal workings of politics with some clarity. I am also amazed at the human qualities of this politician that before I read the book just seemed to be a good speaker with no depth. He reads like a great personal friend, both a good person, and very smart and insightful. He comes across quite moderate to me, and some of his positions that seemed strange to me before, are explained in a way that I can relate to, whether I agree or not.

The title seeks to the paradigm for change For Obama
Review created: 06/30/08(updated 06/30/08)

The books summons this notion to me of OPEY first day in Washington, DC. Obama's simplified perspective of Washington DC gives backbone to this sense that he proposing policy to help those waitress moms that worry about healthcare and education...Obama's perspective is not elitist but that of a person who has been given a chance to witness a policy maker's perspective of what they view as the desires of those of who vote for them. In the making of The Audacity of Hope..Obama attempts a clandestine rendevous with Mr Smith goes to Washington but without the verb. He is neither direct nor indirect in the way he presents his case against what he calls the "Washington environment." In the tone he seems to admit that Washington "can't be changed." And that change can only occur over generations.

its a great book by someone offering to bring change to america. whether he can implement it or not remains to be seen, but its always good to listen to fresh ideas. this book is a great read for those who are still undecided going into november. i would encourage others to read this and then read more about mccain and make an informed decision on whom to vote for...

This reveals the man for what he is, a racist socialist. Not a good candidate for president. I hope this will come out as the election goes forward. His wife has revealed that she is of the same character.

I've now read this title, and his other title 'Dreams From My Father.' Both are stunningly well-written, reading them becomes a 'spiritual' experience (for want of better way of phrasing). To have his authorship talent, along with all the rest of his other abilities, makes his character seem simply breathtaking. (Obama voter, goes without saying)

Not since the '60s, has an orator like John Kennedy and Martin Luther Kingexisted. Barack Obama is such a man - insightful, deeply thoughtful, able to grasp all sides of an argument, a true uniter, and perhaps the last hope for this country. This book details his experiences in the senate and provides a view of thinking that isn't available in his orchestrated speeches on the stump. If you are waivering about voting for him because you question his leadership ability, read this account.

I loved the way he explained his true feelings about Washington. There has got to be a change in a positive direction for our country or the regular old joe's are not going to matter anymore. It will become a society of the rich and super poor. PERIOD.

This book gives great insight into the man, Barack Obama. In my consideration of who would be the better Democratic candidate for President of United States, I believed reading as much as I could about Obama, would be the best way to get more informed. This book certainly helped in this process.

Review created: 09/03/09

This book is ment for those American's that are looking for inspiration and hope. It provides for a new kind of politics and builds upon understandings that are said to pull American's together. Major National Newspapers such as The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The Chicago Tribune wrote their reviews concerning this book and it is now proclaimed as a Number 1 New York Times Bestseller. It is a must have for any American's book collection.

  Knowing the political Obama.
Review created: 03/10/09
by:

This book is pretty much the A to Z of Obama, now our President. If you want to know his political views on all things, this is your book. Although this book has lost some of its interest now that he is President, it still offers more detai about him than the mass media. If you want to know Obama personally, then read his other book, Dreams From My Father.

It is rare when one has the opportunity to see inside another persons life, to have the opportunity to discern his reasoning and to share the experiences that define his life and his dreams for himself, his family and for America. I found The Audicity of Hope to be the most honest political book that I have ever read. If we all pull together and give him the opportunity to realize his dreams, I believe that America will be on the right track for the future.

I bought the book The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama because I want to learn more about Obama. I'm finding the book very informative and am learning that he is very knowledgable in a lot of subjects. I did not buy the book as a keepsake or in hopes that it might become worth more because it is not one of his "signed" books.

  THE AUDACITY OF HOPE
Review created: 12/06/08

I BOUGHT THIS BOOK TO FAMILIARIZE MYSELF WITH PRESIDENT ELECT BARACK OBAMA. IT IS HELPING ME TO KNOW MORE ABOUT HIS START AND RISE IN POLITICS. THE TYPES OF PEOPLE HE ALIGNS HIMSELF WITH. WHAT HAS DRIVEN HIM TO ARRIVE AT HIS VIEWPOINTS ON MANY TOPICS IN AND OUT OF POLITICS. I LIKE HIS FORWARD THINKING, AND I BELIEVE THAT HE JUST MAY BE ABLE TO PUT OUR COUNTRY 'BACK' ON TRACK. I BELIEVE THAT IF PEOPLE WILL LOOK PAST HIS COLOR, AND ATTEMPT TO GET INSIDE HIS HEAD AS I AM TRYING TO DO, THEY MIGHT BE PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. THIS IS A THINKING MANS BOOK. YOU SHOULDN'T GO THROUGH IT LIKE YOU WOULD A ROMANCE NOVEL. I AM ALSO BUYING HIS OTHER BOOK DREAMS FROM MY FATHER I THINK IT IS CALLED.
