Scream Years Before Scream- AKA Spoof Horror
Review created: 01/03/06

When Scream was released, it was heralded as the first horror movie to poke fun at horror movies. LIES, all of it! Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes combines horror, mock horror, humor and music in a not-to-be-missed classic. Look for references to old black-and-white 'B' movies of yesteryear.
Worth watching once, maybe twice... I can't see building any shrines to this movie, but it was nintey minutes well spent.
This movie leaves you with only one question- were there stand ins and stunt doubles for the tomatoes?

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes - This is a spoof horror movie that really is pretty funny. Some of it is a little much, but the song 'puberty love' that is always playing in the background is hilarious.

Review created: 12/05/08

It was the best "B" movie ever made!
ttack of the Killer Tomatoes is a 1978 comedy film directed by John De Bello and starring David Miller. The film is a spoof of B-movies. Made on a budget of less than USD$100,000, the story involves tomatoes becoming sentient by unknown means and revolting against humanity.   Ol B Movies
Review created: 10/27/08

I remember watching this when I was a kid, and thought my kids would like it. It is a stupid movie, however, the tomatos attacking was fun for them. There was more adult humor than I remembered that they did not get.

  Rotten Tomatoes
Review created: 10/10/08

We bought this movie thinking that it would be fun to watch it with our 13 year old daughter. We popped some popcorn and sat back to have a movie night. I was shocked to find that there was a truckload of profanity, just in the first 5 minutes. We waited, thinking that maybe it was an isolated comment and hoped there would be no more profanity. Unfortunately, it got worse and we had to turn it off. I now feel that I wasted the money that I had spent on this movie, and really don't want to sell it to anyone else because I wouldn't want to have anyone else listen to the script. I was highly disappointed in what could have been a wonderful old kooky movie to watch with my family. If you curse like a sailor, and that sort of thing doesn't bother you, you might like it. Otherwise, if you are a decent and moral kind of person, please stay away from the produce section - there are some rotten tomatoes there!

  Killer Tomatoes !!!!!!
Review created: 09/12/08
by:

This is a movie that makes no apologies at having tounge firmly in cheek from the opening credits to the hand holding, love at last-delerious duet finale. What's left to say that hasn't been said allready? This flik (an honorable tag)only lags a bit about 3/4 thru the festivities but not for long. I must insist that if you haven't seen it, shame on you. The title itself insists spoofery on an epic, biblical scale. So, many critics place this flik in the arena of "worst movies". That's so if you have the sense of humor of a wasp sting. Can you really diss a flik with a cameo by the San Diego Chicken? How can one not feel empty not having indulged at hearing "Puberty Love"? Such a balad must, MUST be heard! Let go any logic you have and just roll with it. It's better than polotics!

  The Seven Foot Killer Tomato
Review created: 08/01/07

This is a classic cult-spoof film and I wanted to get it for my next door neighbor who has grown tomato plants that are over seven feet tall this year. We think her garden is over an old radiation or steriod dump.

I wanted the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes because I lost my copy to the flood waters of Hurricane Katrina. Even through it is a spoof, I find it to be very enjoyable in an absolutely stupid way. I just wanted it.

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes DVD
Review created: 04/19/07

I vaguely remembered this DVD from my childhood along with the old cartoon. Struck by fond memories and curiousity, I bought this DVD here on Ebay. As soon as I got it, I tore it out of the package and put it in my DVD player. Now, if you can't appreciate Mel Brook-esque humor, this probably isn't the movie for you. My boyfriend and I laughed and laughed throughout this movie. It's more of a parody of all the horror films that were coming out at the time such as the Blob, Ants, Slugs, etc...Poking fun at all the serious, yet ridiculous horror movies. I suggest this movie if you are open to seeing tomatoes roll across your screen attacking people...it's great.

  Attack of the killer tomatoes
Review created: 09/12/06

I bought this movie because I work at a bible camp and with alot of high school age kids. Somehow I mentioned that when I was in Grade school, my dad bought this movie and it was so stupid that it was funny and suggested that we try to convince the Camp Executive that we needed to get paid to watch this training material and a free lunch that we would not have to make. It started out as a joke because we were in one of those "moods" while doing the salad bar and I said we really needed to have a kitchen training tape on what to do if vegetables started attacking us. Needless to say, we didn't get an authorization for a training tape, but you need to realize this tape is so very AWESOME!. If I still remembered it from when it first came out in the 70's, this is a very MUST SEE VIDEO. You won't be disappointed and try not to die laughing :-)
