Publisher's Note In vivo cutaneous surface microscopy (epiluminescence microscopy, dermatoscopy) is an inexpensive clinical technique that allows detailed examination of pigmented lesions of the skin. It therefore increases the diagnostic accuracy of nearly all pigmented skin tumors. The aim of this book is to present multiple examples of a wide spectrum of pigmented skin lesions and the specific surface microscopy features which determine their clinical diagnosis.
This atlas describes the surface microscopic features of pigmented lesions, including each feature's histopathological correlate. It gives the physician a clear understanding of the decision making involved in making an accurate clinical diagnosis of benign and malignant pigmented skin lesions.
