wordy, atheistic tripe

This overly-long, pedantic, and very over-rated novel will appeal only to those who approve of self-centerness, of the pursuit of personal wealth and power at all costs (to others who get in the way, not to one's self), of a dog-eat-dog, every man for himself (and devil takes the hindmost) type of world, and who hate the Christian faith. Rand spent her entire adult life thinking that she was superior to everyone else, and pissed off that so few agreed with her. She rejected the idea of God, and exaulted "man" because she hated the idea that she would have to answer to Him one day for her narissistic philosophy and lifestyle. One finishes this novel (if he can) not really caring what happens to any of the characters. Yes, Rand is right to oppose all-powerful civil goverment, especially when it tries to dictate how everyone should live, but her solution of unrestrained individualism, which ignores the facts of sin and human depravity, leaves mankind in just as bad a condition as communism.
