At Folsom Prison [Remaster] by Johnny Cash (CD, Oct-1999, Legacy Recordings)

I had purchased this album some 25+ years ago as an LP. Over time, it was damaged and then discarded. When I found this item as a remastered CD on ebay, I jumped at the chance. The CD has great sound, two more songs than the LP had, a great booklet describing the experience in Johnny Cash's own words, photos of a young Johnny, June Carter, etc. and Folsom Prison. What a treat. I have played it numerous times since my purchase and hear a little more each time since it is not only an album but a piece of history.

This is the best live work of Johnny Cash you can buy. A classic that reflects who he was and what he believed in. Electric from the first to the last song, i've loved this release since 1970.

I love Johnny Cash and every song on this disc is bound to bring joy to your ears! The man knew how to sing and how to write songs--there is nothing but greatness to his works of wonder. A classic CD in any book!

The remix makes this sound great on newer sound systems. It has most of why you love Johnny Cash on this album. The familiar songs you grew up on. You can sing along with every one of the hit songs on this album. Has a really cool (copy of course) of a handwritten letter by Johnny Cash inside of the CD. That itself is worth the price of the CD.

Johnny Cash is a true American original. This might be his greatest album, in my opinion. The presence of the loud, often rowdy sounding inmates, adds a rawness to the recordings that makes it unique. A must for any music collection.

Bought this for my boyfriend who is the Johnny Cash fan, but after listening to this, I am too! I'm usually not a huge fan of "live" albums, but this is a keeper.

This cd is a classic. It is a master playing what he knows best in a circumstance that he id familiar with. There are many kinds of prisions and Johnny Cash seems to be the voice of all of them.

I LOVE this CD! It has a permanant place in my auto CD player. There are a variety of songs from prison life to a hard working man with love songs. Some of his songs were plain silly and make you laugh, like his 'Egg sucking dog'. His songs tell stories of a certain time and they paint a clear picture. This is a 'must have' CD. You wont be sorry.

Although I live in L.A., I have always been a country girl at heart. Before I saw the movie "Walk the Line", I had a collection of 3 Johnny Cash cd's - all of which I love, but after seeing the movie, I decided it was time to add this one to my collection. I LOVE IT!!! It is Johnny Cash at his very finest!

The original was as good as it gets. The remaster adds the full, uncensored concert, which makes the original even better. If you like Cash, his image or anything about him, this MUST be in your collection!

A quality reproduction of a pivotal and key point in Cash's history. Well worth the price for Cash lovers. Vintage chuga-cung-chuga-chung.

CD was in excellent condition as promised. my boyfriend absolutly loves it. the only problem i had was that the cd took a week to receive.

I have enjoyed the cd it was well described and shipping was fast. The cd has alot of songs I had heard but had no copy of.

After seeing Walk the Line, I knew I had to have this in my collection. It is every bit as good as I thought it would be.

I wanted to hear some of his earlier work.Really enjoyed it..I've always wanted to hear this recording at the prison and now that I have I'm glad I did.

At Folsom Prison places Johnny Cash in an auditorium with his band, his wife, and an audience of some 2000 inmates in one of America's most notorious peniteniaries. Songs range from apparent brushes with the law to humorous stories of everyday life we can all relate to, and present a good idea of the variety his music ranges through. His sound is true Country. His mood on this album is not quite as dark as you will find on his studio albums but the content is still there, and is the reason behind a "4" out of five star rating.

This album has been remixed into 20-Bit digital sound. It includes three traks not released in the original 1968 issue, and many previously unreleased photos of the event.
