Assassins Creed is about a skilled Assassin named Altair who lived during the third Crusade in the year 1191. His objective is to slay the nine historical figures who are propagating the Crusades

This game deserve a 5 out 5 because of its great game play, smooth graphics and game features. The best feature of the game is that you are able to climb any building throughout the three historically correct cities of Jerusalem, Acre and Damascus. In between the cities you can ride on horseback through different environments and meet new enemies.

Another great thing is the side missions such as saving citizens, pickpocketing people, spying, and finding different items are very fun.

Every thing in this game is interactive such as the crowd filled with beggars who just keep begging you for money. You can push people out of you way, or if your running to fast you might actually trip over one. You can also blend in with priests to get into heavily guarded areas. There are also many different places to hide just in case you need to make a quick escape. You can hide in hay stacks, small huts on top of roofs and blend in with the crowd.

There are infinite things do in this game and infinite ways to do them and that is another reason this game deserves a 5 out of 5.

I only gave this a 4/5 because it is not a quite a 5.. maybe 4 1/2. There is a lot of stuff to do and it is a free-world enviornment. You can pretty much go anywhere and climb anything. Unfortunately, you cant go in any doors (like Oblivion). The main missions of the game have you assassinating 9 key members of society. You must pickpocket, beat, or evesdrop your information from people. Once you have enough information about your target, you can continue with your assassination attempt. Besides the main missions, there are over 400 flags to find and 60 mini-assassination missions troughout the huge map. There are people everywhere and they can help or hinder you. Some push you for no reason and can pick fights. Others are just there to get in your way. Everything you do must be "socially acceptable", or the guards will be on alert about you.

This game is alot of fun and can take upto 40 hours of gameplay to complete all missions in the game. The graphics are very good and are fun to watch. This game also has no online mode, so you'll be flying solo this whole game.

"Assassin's Creed hits the mark"
"Assassin's Creed hits the mark"
Fantastic experience. The story is greatly engrossing, and telling us upfront from the very beginning what is really going on is intelligent storytelling. Instead of trying to pull a cheap, run of the mill, twist in the end- they tell us from the start and it allows for a very unique style to tell a story in a videogame. Much like Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, this game manages to break the fourth wall, and that makes it stand out as far as storytelling is concerned. If your not into it, that's one thing, but it's unique style and originality in approaching a story like this must be marveled at.

The sound is fantastic as well, with accents done well enough to never sound wrong. Altair's voice is nicely done, although not as organic as the rest, but it gets across the classic "dark, loner, badass" voice you'd expect. The music is top notch, and sound effects add to the atmosphere as well.

Control wise, Assassin's Creed couldn't be better. At first, it may seem strange. That's because of how intuitve they are. The tutorials and progression of the game allows you to get used to them, and master them if you try, by never trying to jam everything in your face at once. Altair moves around like Zorro, bouncing off of everything, climbing up anything. This is the most realistically agile, and acrobatic character to ever be animated in a game. He moves like a ninja, and it never looks "off" because he's doing so in realistic manner's, needing to grab hold of ledges and pull himself up. The best way to describe it is Prince Of Persia's puzzles, only all the time and with all your enviroment being interactive and a tool at your disposal.

Graphically, the game is better than average. There are some hick-ups at times, but not much really. Other than that though, its a very beautiful game.

The game got tons of hype, and in the end people will hold that hype against this game. Go in with an open mind, and don't be over critical expecting the game to be the END ALL BE ALL, because no game can be that. This game is fantastic, it sets the bar of videogaming to a whole 'nother level, and is very enjoyable. It's a stealth based, action adventure game. If your not expecting an FPS shooter or somthing, then you're on the right track. I couldn't be happier with the game, and it gets a 10 out of 10 from me.

Assassin's Creed: Great but not awesome

Taking a life is not a task to be accepted lightly. While some games trivialize the act, none infuse it with haunting gravity more elegantly than Assassin’s Creed. As you guide Altaïr through his missions, the game transforms you into an angel of death; the puppeteering control scheme and cinematic camera makes every kill feel significant, and every leap of faith a triumph. The gameplay can instantly transform from careful, measured movement to a heart-pounding escape with a dozen city guards on your trail. The chase is enhanced by the seamless integration of free-running, which has you traversing towering spires and residential districts in exhilarating ways you have to see to believe. With its excellent mechanics and surprising story, the only area where Assassin’s Creed leaves itself vulnerable is in the variety of environments and investigation missions. The crowds and architecture provide endless opportunities for experimentation, however, so there are always ways to stay entertained. Death is an inevitable part of life, so make sure you cross Assassin’s Creed off of your to-do list before your time comes. Sooner would be better than later.

  **Assassin's Creed Review*
Review created: 04/13/08

Assassin's Creed is a bloody dive into a beautiful world of warriors and the assassins who hate them. Beautiful animation, stylish low-saturation graphics, and city-wide chases are all fundamentally wonderful in Creed. There really isn't another game quite like it. Unfortunately, there isn't another game with issues quite like Creed's, either. Assassin's Creed tries to be a stealth game, an action game, a stealth kill game and a platformer, and to innovate in each category. But for each amazing step forward, Creed takes a half-step back.

Quietly Killing Time

Assassin's Creed revolves around the assassinations of nine key targets in the Third Crusade (as well as some "other" points in history). Acre, Jerusalem, and Damascus are rendered in beautiful grays and earth tones, creating the effect of free-running across a giant tomb. It's in the free-running that you'll find the game's most original and satisfying gameplay, tearing across cities as medieval hitman Altair.

By holding down a trigger and the action button, Altair can nimbly ascend anything. Once you're free-running, gameplay becomes about maintaining a perfect line of motion rather than hitting the jump button at just the right time. There's a very steep learning curve, because these free-running portions look more like platforming than they actually play. The basic idea is to hold down the free-running buttons and point Altair in the right direction. Your job isn't to micromanage jumps; your job is to point Altair towards his victims and make sure they die cleanly.

In order to secure your targets' deaths, you have to climb a few "synchronization points," the tallest buildings in a city's district. Each district has half a dozen or more of these, with each city divided into three districts. Climbing to the very highest point of these structures is really fun. There isn't any other game that quite captures the heart-pounding pleasure of simply ascending, endlessly, with nothing but your wits and fingertips to guide you.

Each sync point unveils a roundup of choices on your mini-map, including citizens to rescue (who'll then help you later) and various clues you'll have to unlock in order to earn permission to kill your target. You might have to interrogate an enemy agent, pickpocket a map, or simply kill a few Templars without being caught -- and within a time limit.
While that sounds like a forgiving, interesting way to represent "investigating" your target, the mission types all blur into a homogenous mix of unskippable introductory cut-scenes and difficulty that is always too hard or too easy. Until mission seven, the toughest job you're likely to have is to go to your HUD marker, sit at the bench, and hit the Y button to listen in on a conversation.

I've Never Run

But once you hit the seventh mission, the timed stealth murder sprees become trial and error, simply hoping you can make your hits before some random guard bumps into you, forcing you to redo the entire mission. They're not long, but it's an irritant to repeat the same mini-mission over and over again. More disappointing, chances to explain why your target deserves to die are passed up for simple chatter. Each mini-mission's cut-scene is merely exposition, always telling instead of showing.

Missions in free-roaming, open-world games give the player a sense of direction, a sense of not being lost in the world.
Overall Rating- 10/10

A beautiful and mostly efficient killer.

After months of riding the hype train, Ubisoft Montreal's Assassin's Creed has finally arrived. The game puts you into the shoes of a medieval assassin named Altair, a nimble figure once part of an elite group of assassins. After a disastrous screw-up with an enemy that leaves a fellow Crusader slain, he must earn his leader's trust – by getting thrown into a series of missions to eliminate key targets in several corrupt cities.

After an initial foray into plotville with TV babe-of-the-moment Kristen Bell (which we won't spoil for you here) the game kicks into high gear. You'll learn the basics of Altair's skills, including identifying and zooming in on assassination targets (with the help of a color-coded body heat system); calmly pushing people aside without making them uncomfortable (this is real important, unless you want unruly citizens giving you away); attack techniques (we especially love sneaking up behind someone and impaling them in the neck) and stealth skills.

Most of these abilities get regular use as you complete the nine main and various side missions that make up he game. You'll use Altair's observation skills frequently, climbing up high structures to get a lay of the land, pickpocketing for information and listening in on conversations. Along the way, you ascend old buildings and move across loose boards, simply by holding the correct buttons down while moving with the analog stick.

When it comes to the actual assassinating, Assassin's Creed misses the jugular by a bit. While you'll enjoy singling out a target and causing their death in a number of ways, the aftermath somewhat disappoints. That's because the guards don't really have a full quiver of arrows, if you get our meaning. Sure, they'll pay attention to your behavior and watch to see if you act suspiciously, but they don't know how to handle themselves in combat.

You could wipe out the target and his entourage with several quick sword swipes just as easily as you could escape from them, leaving very little to risk. In addition, outrunning guards and hiding from them is pointless because, if by chance they do catch up and ambush you, they don't really attack in droves – only two at a time. At least some of the townsfolk know how to play it smart, sometimes requiring a heated pursuit throughout the city.

Ubisoft Montreal has done an impressive job recreating a medieval landscape. The game moves very fluidly, whether walking through the crowds or riding on horseback into the next town. Also a plus – you rarely have to fight the camera. Climbing up to the top of a tall structure affords an impressive vista – and of course, it's fun to jump off and dive into a haystack several hundred feet below with nary a scratch.

Even with braindead guards and occassionally repetitive gameplay, Assassin's Creed is worth a stab (no pun intended). Its scenic presentation, teamed with violent gameplay and an involving story, gives you more than enough reason to step into this killer's shoes.

Gameplay: 10/10
Graphics: 10/10
Sound: 10/10

I count this game among the few I ever complete. Check my screen name on Xbox.com and see for yourself. I enjoyed the combat, story, setting, and characters. It takes a little while to understand the controls, but if you keep an open mind, they actually make sense, and become second nature. Think of the buttons like parts of the body, (Y) for the head, (X) and (B) for the arms, and (A) for the legs.

The ending (as I'm sure you already know) is a disappointment. Just don't get your hopes up for a great final moment and you will not be too pissed off. They are going to make a sequel and this sets the stage for things to come... I think. You'll understand once you play it.

There are a lot of achievements to get, and if you are OCD, you can try and collect the hundreds of flags scattered around the game world. It drove me mad, so I gave up. If it's not you thing, don't do it. Just enjoy the game. It's really good, and only as difficult as you make it. That's the key, if you don't want to spend hours finding flags, you don't have to. If you don't want to scale every building, you don't have to. Not every interrogation/messenger run/save-the-citizen quest is required. These things are optional.

I gave this game a 5 of 5 because I realized that I'm in charge of how much fun I'm having. I respect Assassin's Creed for giving me that much vital control.

  Good but not Perfect

Assassin’s Creed is the type of game that comes along only rarely – a title that innovates in so many areas it helps to set a new bar in various aspects of gameplay, storytelling, visuals, and controls. Simultaneously, it’s an imperfect game in which the small flaws that mar its sheen are all the more noticeable because so much of the rest of the game shines so brightly. Deep, engaging, and surprising from beginning to end, Assassin’s Creed’s merits will be debated for a long time. However, as a brave attempt at delivering something unique and audacious, it excels.

Synopsis:

In this game, you take control of an assassin named Altair, and control him during the Crusades of 1191. Your superiors give you orders to assassinate 9 men, and must travel between 4 cities to kill these targets. You start out with all weapons & special moves unlocked; but fairly fast you are stripped of all your ranking and equipment, and you must complete mission to regain them.

Details:

The game features fun game play & awesome graphics. You can climb any building as long as you can find a hand and foothold on it. You can choose to bluntly attack your enemies or assassinate them with a hidden blade or throwing knives. As you progress through the story and towns you can explore them endlessly, climbing buildings to get viewpoints of the city which expand your map, or choose to save a citizen being attacked by guards. Each of these helps increase your synchronization.

What is synchronization? It is the level with which you are "in tune" with your ancestors. You are not only controlling the assassin, you also control a kid in present day who is being forced to relive his ancestors memories using a machine. If he acts like his ancestors he becomes more synchronized. This synchronization represents your health. It's an interesting concept, but ...

My opinion:

Assassin's Creed becomes BORING due to repetitive play. After the 3rd mission you start visiting the same towns again. Your assassination choices are limited, and it gets to a point where the missions are the same except for location. In the beginning, I thought it was a great game with a great story, but in the end, it was ruined by a lack of variety. The game is worth a rental, but not a buy. Once you beat it, you're unlikely to go back and play it again.

I bought this game a little skeptical at first but after playing it all those fears were removed. This game has a lot of things to do and you learn new skills that you can use in the following missions. It seems like this is the first game in a series of 3, so get out and get it if you don't have it.

Great game. Had my doubts at first, but once I started to play it I was hooked. Played right till I finished it. Good as it is advertised. Wouldn`t pay $60.00 for though, or any game when Ebay gives you the opportunity to purchase them at half price.

This is a very good game. Its right there with the Call of Dutys, Vegas and Resistance" Fall of Man". I like these games on PS-3 instead of Xbox 360.

Gameplay: 8.0

Altair’s stylish combat moves and graceful acrobatic steps make him a most formidable assassin but the missions can get a bit repetitive. The story would have been epic but it’s a bit confusing and the ending will have you scratching your head. The timeframe is well represented in the game and there’s a lot of ground to cover.

Graphics: 8.5

At times the game will make gamers drool at the carefully detailed environments and character models. Then again, the Shenmue-styled pop-in, framerate stutters and a few other graphical glitches just doesn’t fail to give the impression that the graphics could have looked better.

Sound: 9.0

You will be surrounded by sound whether it’s the various vendors, desperate beggars and outspoken scholars. There’s also a great voice-acting cast and a gorgeous soundtrack that is just so wonderfully cinematic.

Difficulty: Medium

Altair can swing a sword or dagger with the best of them so combat can be a nice challenge. Your enemies run pretty fast but thankfully Altair is acrobatic enough to jump from rooftop to rooftop to find a place to hide.

Concept: 8.0

There’s a wide open world for you to explore and the time period definitely adds a new element to the stealthy assassinations. The number of extras, secrets and side missions should offer gamers plenty to do but aside from this there’s very little to come back to when you finish the game.

Overall: 8.0

Confusing plotline and ending aside, Assassin’s Creed is still an original and profound experience that shouldn’t be missed by any gamer looking for something different. It might not be an achievement in game design either but there is way too much to love about this stealth game.

Assassins Creed had a lot of hype built up around it. Being experienced with this, we should be cautious about the games we decide to buy whenever games are hyped up as much as Assassins Creed and had been delayed several times. In the beginning the game was great, fun, and exciting. As you progress however, it becomes the same thing over and over again. The only thing that changes with each mission is the the target and the advancement of the storyline. In the end, although bored, I want to see the ending and recieve the achievement points so I can catch up with my friends. My grade, I'll give it a C+.

  Eagerly Awaiting Assassin's Creed 2

After playing this thriller, the first thing that comes to mind is hope for a sequel. This game is so good that one can only hope that its creators decide to make Assassin's Creed 2. Why am I so impressed with this game that takes place in 12th Century Crusades? Well, awesome graphics, an enticing plot, and a phenomenal ending. The game-makers leave a lot of freedom for the gamer, as goals can be achieved in a variety of ways. After getting absorbed in this game, you will really feel like an ancient hitman, and it is very, very interesting to get into that mindset. My only con about this game is the level of difficulty. At times, the game was downright hard and extremely tricky. But hey, who doesn't love a little challenge? Overall, this is a great game, one of the best of the year, and I definitely recommend it to anyone.

  Awesome Gameplay!

I bought this game expecting excellent results and thats what I got. The game play is just awesome, like I said in my title. You can literally jump on or from anything. You can run on top of rooftops, swings from posts, etc. And the graphics are smooth while I am doing this, not choppy.

What IS a bit of a downside to this game is the repetitiveness. Not so much in main story line, but the mini side missions. For example, in every city, and every part of the city, there are these towers that you should climb in order to beat the game fully. Well, there are about 12 towers in each part of the city, and there are three parts, and I think 4 cities. THATS A LOT OF TOWERS TO CLIMB. Same thing with the "Save citizen" missions, and pickpocket missions. Nevertheless, they are fun because you are roaming different parts of the city and not like you are visiting the same part over and over. The final assassination in each city is also very fun.

The "Art" of killing in this game is very spectacular. You can fight with a sword, dagger, or throw the dagger from a distance. BUT the best part is the hidden blade that you use to kill someone SILENTLY by sneaking up on them. Works best on rooftop guards.

You really have to buy this game to get the full experience.

I didn't reveal any storyline on purpose. Have Fun.

Gameplay: your going to get use to it or, hate it
Review created: 02/05/08(updated 02/05/08)
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Assassins Creed, play an assassin in the ancient days, he may be a clumsy-dofus while running through a crowd, stumbling like a Frank West's grandpa (Dead Rising) but this game is great, it has good visuals, nice scenery, great crowd and guards are very annoyingly hindering kinda-like.

Gameplay with the 360 controller, 1 of 2 things might happen.

1. Your going to get the hang of the gameplay controls on the 360 controller, some regained attacks by level reattainment are the two punch timing variety, for example the one-two-punch or comboattack, press the blue "x" button to attack, when the sword hits, hit the "x" button again for a timed combo attack ...some will pick-up this special attack move fast and

2. ...others will NOT pick-up these special attack methods very well and the rest will be hopelessly timing-challenged, meaning button-mashing will not equal the correct button sequence for these life-saving special attacks.

One of the annoying "law-abiding criminal assassin" tenets is "do not kill innocents ...other than the targets", I wish I could change that setting, since killing worthless beggars and alley-retards is more like providing good public service to the ancient community. Add a clause to that "do not kill innocents.. .." tenet by adding "...unless they are worthless, beggar, street tards" and one more thing, its okay to kill those bubble-butt fat dudes who bump into me and say they can kick my ass

Personally I like this game, I wish I could tweak some settings, removing the helpful reminder and wondering why there are no save separate files throughout the game, I found nearly all the flags and assumed.. that is assumed I would return to the map to finish collecting the remaining flags, nope. There is only one game file and I guess I was finished with the game because I received the "game complete" achievement but then my guy was still hanging out in the psyche ward just waiting, there were no end credits, no "game over", I was like ..ok now what? So I had to restart with another game to collect all the flags again.

I'm a "Tomb Raider" fan
and "Prince of Persia" player too
A good favorite is "Blood Rayne 2" I love a acrobatic vampiric redhead
Each game has its different gamepad/gameplay mechanics
But all are enjoyable, again I enjoyed this game and
I think you'll enjoy this game too

Its a single player campaign, all game achievements are single player

Far from perfect but very well executed.

You play Altair, an assassin assigned to eliminate nine historically prominent figures from 1191, The Crusades. The way you approach these assassinations is partially up to you, and I say partially because it may seem that you have total control of your actions when you first play but as the game progresses, you quickly learn that it gets to become pretty linear with a dash of freedom.

To view the map, you essentially press the "back" button but not everything is revealed immediately. In order to truly see what your surroundings consist of, you must climb high structures (usually mosques, towers, etc.) and this is truly an exhilarating experience. You run up buildings by holding down the right trigger and holding down the A button. Climbing buildings is very easy and Ubisoft made it very fun. As soon as you reach the top of these structures, you synchronize with your surroundings and everything in that radius is revealed to you.

Before you assassinate your target, you must complete 3/6 investigations and this can be done through eavesdropping, pick pocketing, or interrogation. None of these can be done at random, there are set targets for each action and they are all very well done. Once you are actually ready to assassinate your target, you must retreat the Assassin's Bureau (and every town has one,) from which you will rest before you assassinate your target.

Once you reach your target, an elaborate cut-scene/interaction occurs (with optional different angles!) and you have the choice of approaching your target quietly or openly.

There are numerous plot twists and a dissonant back story to the game which cannot be revealed and essentially, this game is the first in a trilogy so don't expect to have all your questions answered. All in all, Assassin's Creed is not a perfect game although it is very well done.

  Assassins Creed : My review

This game is awesome. I give it a 5/5. The HD graphics will blow you away. The game play is like no game we have had before. Altair is the character you play, he is an assassin and he is a bad@$$. You have skills to learn, or should I say earn. The more levels you complete the more of your skills and weapons you earn back after losing them...won't ruin the story by telling all. I highly recommend this game if you are looking for an immense action, bloody, skilled fighting game.

This is know joke! I have multiple friends and family members who have gotton free high priced items from this website. Also, unlike many websites they really only ask you to fill out one offer. NO multiple pages of offers to fill out like other sites! So if you really want a PS3 copy and paste this link into your address bar! O Yeah and this game (Assassin's Creed) is nothing but great graphics and very poor gameplay!!
