I only gave this a 4/5 because it is not a quite a 5.. maybe 4 1/2. There is a lot of stuff to do and it is a free-world enviornment. You can pretty much go anywhere and climb anything. Unfortunately, you cant go in any doors (like Oblivion). The main missions of the game have you assassinating 9 key members of society. You must pickpocket, beat, or evesdrop your information from people. Once you have enough information about your target, you can continue with your assassination attempt. Besides the main missions, there are over 400 flags to find and 60 mini-assassination missions troughout the huge map. There are people everywhere and they can help or hinder you. Some push you for no reason and can pick fights. Others are just there to get in your way. Everything you do must be "socially acceptable", or the guards will be on alert about you.

This game does have some random freeze issues on the PS3. It has been aknowledged by Ubisoft and they plan on fixing this problem. This game is alot of fun and can take upto 40 hours of gameplay to complete all missions in the game. The graphics are very good and are fun to watch. This game also has no online mode, so you'll be flying solo this whole game.

If you found this review helpful, please hit YES below! Thanks.

Gameplay: 8.0
Altair’s stylish combat moves and graceful acrobatic steps make him a most formidable assassin but the missions can get a bit repetitive. The story would have been epic but it’s a bit confusing and the ending will have you scratching your head. The timeframe is well represented in the game and there’s a lot of ground to cover.

Graphics: 8.5
At times the game will make gamers drool at the carefully detailed environments and character models. Then again, the Shenmue-styled pop-in, framerate stutters and a few other graphical glitches just doesn’t fail to give the impression that the graphics could have looked better.

Sound: 9.0
You will be surrounded by sound whether it’s the various vendors, desperate beggars and outspoken scholars. There’s also a great voice-acting cast and a gorgeous soundtrack that is just so wonderfully cinematic.

Difficulty: Medium
Altair can swing a sword or dagger with the best of them so combat can be a nice challenge. Your enemies run pretty fast but thankfully Altair is acrobatic enough to jump from rooftop to rooftop to find a place to hide.

Concept: 8.0
There’s a wide open world for you to explore and the time period definitely adds a new element to the stealthy assassinations. The number of extras, secrets and side missions should offer gamers plenty to do but aside from this there’s very little to come back to when you finish the game.

Overall: 8.0
Confusing plotline and ending aside, Assassin’s Creed is still an original and profound experience that shouldn’t be missed by any gamer looking for something different. It might not be an achievement in game design either but there is way too much to love about this stealth game.

This game looks like the most amazing game on any platform! The sheer freedom to go and do anything you want is really going to change the way we look at games. I can't wait til this game hits the shelves. I saw the trailer for this game and it was amazing. The story in the game sounds great, the graphics are outstanding and its said that this is going be the first in a series of games. For me this is a must buy. I'll be in on release day for this one...

Like any other game there is a story amd a mission. Why this is an excellent is because of the following:

1. Understanding the moves.
2. Understanding what you have to do, your mission.
3. Understanding on how to put it all toghther.
4. The best, HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE YOU TO FINISH IT.
5. Its has great effects, sounds and if you know, or love history this is it.
This game is amazing. there are so many hidden items it will drive you crazy, plus the interaction with the game.

  **Assassin's Creed Review*
Review created: 04/13/08
by:
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Assassin's Creed is a bloody dive into a beautiful world of warriors and the assassins who hate them. Beautiful animation, stylish low-saturation graphics, and city-wide chases are all fundamentally wonderful in Creed. There really isn't another game quite like it. Unfortunately, there isn't another game with issues quite like Creed's, either. Assassin's Creed tries to be a stealth game, an action game, a stealth kill game and a platformer, and to innovate in each category. But for each amazing step forward, Creed takes a half-step back.

Quietly Killing Time

Assassin's Creed revolves around the assassinations of nine key targets in the Third Crusade (as well as some "other" points in history). Acre, Jerusalem, and Damascus are rendered in beautiful grays and earth tones, creating the effect of free-running across a giant tomb. It's in the free-running that you'll find the game's most original and satisfying gameplay, tearing across cities as medieval hitman Altair.

By holding down a trigger and the action button, Altair can nimbly ascend anything. Once you're free-running, gameplay becomes about maintaining a perfect line of motion rather than hitting the jump button at just the right time. There's a very steep learning curve, because these free-running portions look more like platforming than they actually play. The basic idea is to hold down the free-running buttons and point Altair in the right direction. Your job isn't to micromanage jumps; your job is to point Altair towards his victims and make sure they die cleanly.

In order to secure your targets' deaths, you have to climb a few "synchronization points," the tallest buildings in a city's district. Each district has half a dozen or more of these, with each city divided into three districts. Climbing to the very highest point of these structures is really fun. There isn't any other game that quite captures the heart-pounding pleasure of simply ascending, endlessly, with nothing but your wits and fingertips to guide you.

Each sync point unveils a roundup of choices on your mini-map, including citizens to rescue (who'll then help you later) and various clues you'll have to unlock in order to earn permission to kill your target. You might have to interrogate an enemy agent, pickpocket a map, or simply kill a few Templars without being caught -- and within a time limit.
While that sounds like a forgiving, interesting way to represent "investigating" your target, the mission types all blur into a homogenous mix of unskippable introductory cut-scenes and difficulty that is always too hard or too easy. Until mission seven, the toughest job you're likely to have is to go to your HUD marker, sit at the bench, and hit the Y button to listen in on a conversation.

I've Never Run

But once you hit the seventh mission, the timed stealth murder sprees become trial and error, simply hoping you can make your hits before some random guard bumps into you, forcing you to redo the entire mission. They're not long, but it's an irritant to repeat the same mini-mission over and over again. More disappointing, chances to explain why your target deserves to die are passed up for simple chatter. Each mini-mission's cut-scene is merely exposition, always telling instead of showing.

Missions in free-roaming, open-world games give the player a sense of direction, a sense of not being lost in the world.
Overall Rating- 10/10

  Assassins Creed : My review

This game is awesome. I give it a 5/5. The HD graphics will blow you away. The game play is like no game we have had before. Altair is the character you play, he is an assassin and he is a bad@$$. You have skills to learn, or should I say earn. The more levels you complete the more of your skills and weapons you earn back after losing them...won't ruin the story by telling all. I highly recommend this game if you are looking for an immense action, bloody, skilled fighting game.

  Time to burn...Assassin's Creed.
Review created: 03/06/09
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Really liked the name...and the premise, however, it does take a bit to get to the actual game play and then its another spin off of Final Fantasy. At least it feels alot like it... Although it is somewhat drawn out it's not a bad game for baby sitting the kids or incarcerated individuals doing a short stint or just anyone with time to burn. The big sell is the violence aspect of this game and honestly it probably needed that just to get the attention that it did.
Good graphics and effects, for a PS2 platform, should have been much better
for the PS3.
Story line is a little weak but easy enough to follow.
Bosses...didn't notice any.
Is slow to move along, regarding the story (FF ref.),
Probably should have came out on PS2 but there was money to be made off of the PS3...right...no matter
It gets a 2.5 out of a possible 5,and that is being genorous...very genorous.
I give this rating because given the platform(PS3)it should have been sooo much better.
So if you have 2 or 3 feet of fresh snow and the roads are bad and this is the only game that you can rent,(DEFINATELY RENT PRIOR TO BUYING, you'll thank me later),please give this game a shot and enjoy your naps as well, likle I said it's slow. Anyway, no one will remember it in a year or so...thank goodness for short term memory loss...
I must say this review was almost cathartic;)

  Eagerly Awaiting Assassin's Creed 2
Review created: 02/18/08

3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

After playing this thriller, the first thing that comes to mind is hope for a sequel. This game is so good that one can only hope that its creators decide to make Assassin's Creed 2. Why am I so impressed with this game that takes place in 12th Century Crusades? Well, awesome graphics, an enticing plot, and a phenomenal ending. The game-makers leave a lot of freedom for the gamer, as goals can be achieved in a variety of ways. After getting absorbed in this game, you will really feel like an ancient hitman, and it is very, very interesting to get into that mindset. My only con about this game is the level of difficulty. At times, the game was downright hard and extremely tricky. But hey, who doesn't love a little challenge? Overall, this is a great game, one of the best of the year, and I definitely recommend it to anyone.

  BEWARE: Underlying Theme

I bought my PS3 explicitly for Assassin's Creed, and at first I thought it was the coolest game that ever existed; but once that plot unraveled, I began to think differently. What really angers me about this game is that it makes degrading and false accusations about Christianity. It calls Jesus Christ a "mere carpenter" and says that he used the Piece of Eden--which is an artifact in the game--to perform his miracles and not that power of God. It also refers to Jesus turning water in to wine and Moses parting the Red Sea and says that they were simply illusions and did not really happen. This angers me because it takes a cheap shot at Christianity. Also, the first sign you see on the floor at the end of the game
is a pentagram.

This game is very much well worth the money. From storyline, to graphics, to sheer action, this game scores high marks in all categories. There are minor glitches in the game, but hey, nothing is perfect. To get a feel for this game, think Grand Theft Auto IV - 1190 AD.

  A well-made game.

You play Altair, an assassin assigned to eliminate nine historically prominent figures from 1191, The Crusades. The way you approach these assassinations is partially up to you, and I say partially because it may seem that you have total control of your actions when you first play but as the game progresses, you quickly learn that it gets to become pretty linear with a dash of freedom.

To view the map, you essentially press the "back" button but not everything is revealed immediately. In order to truly see what your surroundings consist of, you must climb high structures (usually mosques, towers, etc.) and this is truly an exhilarating experience. You run up buildings by holding down the right trigger and holding down the A button. Climbing buildings is very easy and Ubisoft made it very fun. As soon as you reach the top of these structures, you synchronize with your surroundings and everything in that radius is revealed to you.

Before you assassinate your target, you must complete 3/6 investigations and this can be done through eavesdropping, pick pocketing, or interrogation. None of these can be done at random, there are set targets for each action and they are all very well done. Once you are actually ready to assassinate your target, you must retreat the Assassin's Bureau (and every town has one,) from which you will rest before you assassinate your target.

Once you reach your target, an elaborate cut-scene/interaction occurs (with optional different angles!) and you have the choice of approaching your target quietly or openly.

There are numerous plot twists and a dissonant back story to the game which cannot be revealed and essentially, this game is the first in a trilogy so don't expect to have all your questions answered. All in all, Assassin's Creed is not a perfect game although it is very well done.

Its a fun game does get repeatative after a while but def fun to play. You go all around crusade era cities on assasin missions and your character can go just about anywhere to the top of the tallest builings, just not inside most buildings. Fighting is good too although its also pretty repeatative.

This might be where the free running system for 'Mirrors Edge' came from. I havent gotten too far yet, but its a cool game. Lots of environment interaction and the controls are simple. The story is what will keep you interested because everything else is pretty basic, if it wasnt for the blood this would be a suitable/average kids game. (due to repetition) its one of those games that has a bazillion side missions to keep you occupied cuz you run through the main missions pretty quickly. But like i said i just started so there might be more, but any seasoned gamer can pick up on the hints they leave on the type of game it will be. This game is pretty old so this review might be useless. But if like, me you're catching up with games u missed, i say buy it for 25-30 or less. If you lack patience dont even bother renting it cuz you wont get much out of it unless u have 'Gamefly' and u can keep it as long as u want.

Assassin's Creed is really a mixed bag of goods. Some aspects of the game are fantastic (graphics and scope, free running, crowd interaction, etc.) and some are quite awful (repetitive combat and gameplay, bland storyline, overlong cut scenes with bad voice acting, etc.). In some ways this is a 5-star game being wrapped in the clunky weight of a 1-star game. Maybe they'll do better with the sequel.

Fairly interesting story and game action, but after playing games like Star Wars, it feels slow. Also, the player control isn't very involved. Commanding your character is like driving an automatic versus a stick. Again, compared to the command of Star Wars, it's a little hokey. I'd say this is a decent game. It's one of the first PS3 games out I think, and they've come a long way since then. I'd say buy it used and play it for a while. If you don't beat it quick, sell and move on to Star Wars or Call of Duty. Just my $.02.

The only reason why I didn't give all perfect 5 stars or an excellent rating for this product was the title. Everything was right on point except it wasn't "factory sealed". I'm not making a huge deal about it because the disk didn't have any scratches or finger prints. However, I still believe that whatever the title reads is what the product should be. Besides that I was very pleased with everything else and would recommend buying from this seller.

For a game called assassins creed you'd expect a little more in the killing department. I was hyped up about this game ever since they started releasing the footage of how beautiful the game looked. Which just goes to show that graphics do NOT make a game good.

What else can I say about this game, whenever I play games my mission is to beat them and have fun in the process, but I found myself having no fun and basically just wanting the game to finish. Save your money and buy another game, if your looking for a good action game for PS3 better stick to Metal Gear Solid 4 or Resistance.
