Album Notes City Of Prague Philharmonic includes: Paul Bateman, Nic Raine, Derek Wadsworth (conductor). Additional personnel: Mark Ayres. All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology. The third volume in the Arthouse Café series, this CD contains a very pleasant collection of film music, spanning four decades and focusing on critically acclaimed European films. Many of the pieces here have become legends of their own, including the themes from Il Postino, Last Tango in Paris, and Das Boot. Every piece has something to recommend it, from superb orchestration to fine interpretations of the action of the films that they represent. Diverse in both time and style, the pieces here nevertheless are pleasant to listen to in succession and the album is a worthwhile addition to the music collections of film lovers. ~ Stacia Proefrock
