The Art of Public Speaking by Stephen E. Lucas (2003, Paperback)

The textbook itself is not too terrible, but I bought it because I needed it for a college class. I regret not getting a book that came with the dvd because the dvd had sample speeches on it. Those sample speeches are decent as I viewed a few in class. I really don't think it matters which edition you purchase, as all that changed between the 2003 edition and the newest edition is the samples and pictures. If your professor claims you must have the latest edition, you don't have to tell him/her that you bought an older edition - and you won't know much difference other than some page numbers.

The book was helpful and so are the CDs that come the with book I'm currently selling. I think it is nuts for people to select the option to write a review of the book and instead write a review of the seller who never sent them the book. It's makes the book I'm selling be a 4/5 as opposed to a 5/5 which this book should be. IT'S A BOOK REVIEW, NOT A PEOPLE REVIEW!!!

I found that I use this book a great deal. I had to have this book for my speech course and have used it non-stop. The chapters are easy to read and the example speeches that are provided along with helpful hints and the CD, have been a tremendous use. I can see me using this book long after my course if finished.

why do ppl leave feedback comments in the book review section? makes us sellers look bad eventhough we didnt sell the book to that person. leave your feedback in the feedback section, not the book review section. only post reviews about the book here... did u like the book, didnt u like it? why? why not? ........... dont tell ppl about the seller being bad or the book was not in the shape u expected it to be. jeez....

This book is very clear and well laid out (easy to follow). Speech class still sucked, but this book made all the tests a breeze! :) Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to improve their speech skills - it really helps with everthing from everyday communication to formal presentations. A very valuable skill! P.S. I am not the seller the person below is referring to!

I really like this book, because it has detailed examples, and it helps me understand stuff for speech.

It is virtually like the latest edition. It is very useful in class and is extremely useful for speaking outside class in a professional setting.

I choose "The Art of Public Speaking" because I am a high school teacher and teaching a new class in Public Speaking. I needed some type of reference materials. This book gives all the basics students will need including how to choose a topic thru evaluating your audience. This book has proved very helpful.

This cheap copy of copyrighted material is illegal and you are taking a chance buying it. The law will soon clamp down on these boot leg pirates, and copy is of poor quailty.

I got a book and the 2cds. The book was in decent condition despite the fact that it was published 5 years ago. And the cds worked and played just fine. I love it because it had the same content as the later versions but much cheaper. I am glad that I bought this item before spending a fortune on the newly published book.
