A Decent Basic Overview Of Art Pottery
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.
If you are looking for a basic guide to give you an introduction to the world of vintage art pottery, this guide is pretty good. It offers a brief history of each company, shows marks and gives a range of values for a selection of pieces. There are many black & white and color photos, which are helpful. It's not a tiny handbook, but it is small enough to carry in a briefcase or backpack when you're out shopping the flea markets and need to look something up. Prices for pottery fluctuate so much, you have to take the values with a grain of salt, but at least you have a valid starting point. This guide doesn't by any means cover all the hundreds of pottery companies, but it gives the highlights of most things the average searcher is likely to run into. This is a good first book to help you decide what you want to concentrate on as a collector.
