The Art of Encaustic Painting by Joanne Mattera (2001, Paperback, Illustrated)

Joanne Mattera gives a wealth of visual vocabulary with one of nature's unguarded secrets-bee's wax. While Ms. Mattera gives an adequate historical cross reference along with exceptional photagraphy (there's something for almost everyone's tastes) the high point of this excellent book was the hands on How To section for working with the material itself. It is brief. For me that was the only difficulty I had

I was aroused with visual foreplay but left wanting more from the How To discourse. That's about the only criticism I have: give me more!
