Arrested Development - Season 1 (DVD, 2009, 3 Disc Set)

The comedy in this television show is, quite simply, dull, uninteresting, and unrealistic. It is shows like these that completely destroy television and waste away our minds.

Jeffry Tambor is probably the highlight of this show, though that is not saying much.

Trust me, you will get hooked on this show. The key is though, what the seasons and shows in order, a lot of the jokes are overlooked. You find more and more humor the more you watch. It was a travesty they took this off the air.

This show was one of the funniest I have ever seen. I still count Seinfeld and MASH as my favortes but this is probably going to be right behind them. I am amazed at how well, how clever, this show was written. The first season of course has all the set up for the series, but also has that fresh feel of complete originality. I have never in my life seen a show like this, and I doubt I ever will. It is a complete shame most people never watched it.

This is the wackiest, brightest, most consistent sitcom of the past 10 years if not more. It is more consistent than Seinfeld, right out of the gate (and I'm a huge Seinfeld fan). All the charaters are well-written, funny and brilliantly cast. Discover it before it's gone. Tons of quotable lines in every episode.

this is the funniest show in the history of mankind. Every time i rewatch an episode i catch new jokes and realize how genius the writers are. FANTASTIC.

This series is incredible...........too bad shows like this can't exist, too bad interesting, entertaining,hilarious television can't survive with competitors like "bride to be" or "somalia Island" or all those other mindless shows..........................
It's sad

Arrested Development is the funniest show on television in a very long time. Anyone who hasn't seen it should give it a try. We feel the characters are like friends.

This is one of the most cleverly written TV series I've ever seen, with a whacko cast of characters that are so off-the-wall that you're never sure how any single one of them will react in any situation. There is never a dull moment and it's a must to own so you can watch often and be entertained anew with subtle nuances you may have missed before.

The writing is superb, the actors/actresses perform perfectly, and the show altogether is the best in the business.

Excellent series to add to your collection!! And you really need the full series to fully enjoy to the max capacity...each episode and season borrows (inside) jokes from previous episodes, that unless you were aware of what they were talking about, you would only think some of the commentary to be nonsensical and random. But once you "get it" it's BRILLIANT!

Love this show. Never saw it when it was on T.V. then I caught it on reruns and fell in love with it. If you have a dry sense of humor, you will love it.

Of all the DVD's I own (a lot) this whole series is by far the most used part of my collection. I think the reason a lot of Americans missed out on why this series was so funny is we are used to seeing comedy that parodies stereotypes we have of other people, whereas this series generally parodies stereotypes that other people have about Americans (we treat Mexican workers badly, we have a lot of money that we don't work for.) There is also a lot of jokes about things that arn't usually considered appropriate to joke about, like incest. Also, instead of having one joke that drags on and on a la Saturday Night live, the jokes are just quick one liners that will come up again and again in a variety of situations. That is one of the reasons I always come back to this show, I always find something I missed the other times I watched it.
My favorite episodes in season one are Alter Egos and Justice is Blind. They follow a series of events where Michael (the serious one) decides to have some fun for once and starts a one night stand with a blind attorney. It lasts a little longer then one night, and it turns out the attorney, Maggie Lizer, is the prosecutor and not blind. However, her guide dog, Justice, is.
How can you not find that funny?

Arrested Developement was one ofthe funniest shows on tv, its a shame it isnt on any longer, you could watch the same episode over and over and still find something new to laugh about. There is great hidden comedy in here!

To give you a good idea of how wonderful Arrested Development is, I watched the first few episodes by myself, again when my Mom came home, and then she made us watch it again when my Dad arrived. Even my 7 year old sister was able to laugh at the show. (Although I might not want her watching it the whole time.)

So we're talking about fun the entire family can enjoy, because, largely, it's about family in a way that I'm sure everyone can relate to.

Took a little while to arrive, but arrived by the time it was promised. DVD box was dented, but overall good purchase.

THIS SHOW IS ONE OF THE BEST COMEDIES OUT THERE AND IF YOU ENJOY SHOWS LIKE THE OFFICE OR THAT SORT OF HUMOR THAN YOU WILL LOVE THIS SHOW, IT IS INCREDIBLY FUNNY AND WELL WRITTEN AND WITTY. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE SHOWS THAT WAS NOT GIVEN ENOUGH OF A CHANCE, WONDERFUL SHOW AND YOU WILL LOVE IT!!

Season 1 of Arrested Development is one of the best seasons of any show I have ever seen. The cast is hilarious and works well together. Clever writing and jokes with multiple meanings add to the enjoyment.

I think a big reason the show did not stay on TV too long is that missing a few episodes or trying to watch the show from the middle is difficult as each episode builds on the previous ones. Jokes and situations from previous shows are referenced and would be difficult to understand if you have not watched many of the previous episodes. Also, a good deal of the humor is subtle and based on word play, which is not to say there is a lack of physical humor and obvious humor too.

This was the best TV ever offered; Ron Howard is a producer and the narrator the DVD collection is great!

Good price for all of the seasons in one package. Shipping was reasonable and fairly quick. Arrested Development is a hilarious show, great to be able to watch favorite episodes over and over.

Season 1 was incredibly funny and intelligent. We love watching these over and over. We find something new to laugh at every time. The writing is genius.
