Aromas of Aleppo by Michael J. Cohen, Poopa Dweck (2007, Hardcover)

I took this book out from our library for 2 weeks, and liked it so much I decided o buy it. The book is wonderful: it is beautiful, it has many excellent, well-written recipes that are practical for contemporary households, and it has a wonderful section on the culture of the old colony of Jews in Aleppo, with many affecting photographs. The authors' love of the culture and their enthusiasm permeates the book. My only complaint is that it is really a bit too big and heavy to peruse in one's lap, and one, or at least I, cannot set it up n the kitchen while I follow a recipe, but other than that, it has no drawbacks. Several friends have enjoyed knowing about it and are likely to purchase it.

If you're familiar to the word "Kibbeh" you MUST have this book home. Gather all the wonderful recipes that your Grandmother never wrote, learn how to cook the right way and enter in full to the Aromas of Aleppo (and Damascus of course!!!)
