The use of missles and machine guns from multiple helicopter platforms makes for a great PS shooter!
Army Men Air Attack is an attempt to restore the fun that the previous title (Army Men 3D) was supposed to capture while at the same time combining the FPS concept with the flight simulator based genres.
This is no aeronautical trainer, but the use of missles and machine guns from multiple helicopter platforms (Apache, Chinook, Huey) was certainly a welcome change. Green (good) and Tan (bad) armies once again wage war in the backyard scenery with Captain Blade at the helm.
There are a total of 26 missions, and although it could be conquered in a weekend (or one day) it was long enough and mildly challenging.
The scenery ranges from a Japanese garden to the Wild West. The chief villain is the evil General Plastro (maybe a reformed plastic surgeon?). The graphics are well, good for the platform and year. The sounds are equally appropriate yet nothing to fire up the surround sound for. A decent assortment of weapons, the ability to sling load (hoist things by helicopter) and the “minature” environment makes for an overall good game. One you may want to add to your collection for a retro weekend once you become overloaded from PS3 or XBOX 360 quality games.
