This is a type of book I normally shy away from....graphic and scary...but I had heard about it from so many people and picked it up to read. Ms. Gerritsen's story is solid. The killer, sadistic and someone who haunts your dreams! That is when you know a book is really good....the dreaming of it! You'll want to leave the lights on and make sure the doors are all locked and then re-check them again after a few chapters. Very skillfully done.....and as I said, scary!

I love this book!! It's the second in a series of six books that follow a Boston homicide detective and M.E. through the cases they investigate. The writing in this book is very good, but if you're at all squeamish or faint-hearted, I don't think this book would be a good choice for you. It goes into some very graphic detail about murder and the mind of a serial killer/sadist.

Great Sampling of Things to Come!I loved it! I read The Surgeon, which is the book this one is based on, so I was concerned that I may know all the details, but I was wrong! Great read! I was up all night!
