Apple iPod touch 1st Generation (32 GB) MP3 Player

Wow! It's the interface. That's what makes the iPhone and the iPod touch amazing. It's so easy to use. It works so well. I still have no idea how the thing can flawlessly recognize which of the tiny on-screen keys that my fat fingers are pressing...but it does.

I really wanted an iPhone but unfortunately I recently moved to an area that doesn't have AT&T coverage. It's not just a case of no 3G...there's NO COVERAGE at all here so I switched to Verizon. They have a tower right across the street from me so coverage is great .. but no iPhone.

On a whim I bought a used 32GB iPod Touch at a great price on ebay. The thing is AMAZING. If you have WiFi - or can get to a hotspot the Touch allows you to surf amazingly fast. Sure, it doesn't operate as widely as the iPhone with EDGE and 3G...but it's the next best thing...and it's 32GB.

I've been using PDAs / Pocket PCs for MANY years. I had one of the orginal Apple Newton Message Pads (the 120) and more than a few HP and Dell (and other) Pocket PCs. NONE of them can even come close to the iPod Touch for functionality, ease of use, speed browsing webpages, etc. And it's thinner, more graceful and it just works. The "pinch" zoom function, auto-rotating screen and finger swiping (NO MORE CRAPPY STYLUS!) work wonderfully.

As for the "traditional iPod" music player function... it's the best! I've got a 2nd gen Nano and the Touch's interface is just SO much easier to use. You can just "glide" through all of your media easily with a finger swipe.

And finally, there's the video. The screen size is about the minumum that I can comfortably watch. It's just right. It's small enough to fit in your pocket yet very watchable. The 32GB Touch is big enough to hold quite a few videos.
