Apple iPod shuffle First Gen. (512 MB, M9724LL/A) MP3 Player

When the iPod Shuffle arrived, it was Apple’s response to the wave of flash MP3 players taking a share of the market – the iPod of course was a bigger success than anyone could have imagined, but it was still too large and bulky for the active user (someone wanting to take it on a jog, use it while spinning, etc). The Shuffle was supposed to be Apple’s claim on this segment of the market – light, portable and durable MP3 players that value portability over functionality.

The trouble however is that the Shuffle compromises too much on functionality – personally, I don’t get very excited about an MP3 player:

1) without an LCD screen
2) without playlist capability
3) that requires the use of a rope around your neck
4) an armband (essential) for athletic use costs an extra ~$30

This doesn’t bother many people – and if it doesn’t bother you, than the Shuffle is a great choice. Personally, I think the design of the Shuffle is super cool and typical Apple. However, in terms of portable flash players, my prefence is the Rio Forge series and there are lines of plenty of other alternatives. All cost less and, in my opinion, are better values.

While my clear preference for these kind of MP3 players is not the Shuffle – I can’t help but leave positive reviews for its sleek, different and sexy design – which certainly is enough of a selling point for many consumers.

My advice – think about what features and functions you want in an MP3 player before buying.

Well I bought a back-up ipod shuffle, for when mine breaks, I love it so much that I don't want to be without one, although I take care of mine and I don't think it'll ever break, I know better, accidents happen and when it does, I want one now! So I bought a new and never opened ipod shuffle first gen. 512 MB, it's even enough storage, I mean I won't need more than 80 songs, and if I need newer ones, then I just erase them all or some, and add whichever ones I want, super small and long lasting, I couldn't ask for more, I use it about an hour a day at most, if I used it more then maybe I'd want a newer version which held more songs, but for what I use it for it's perfect! My first one I bought used, for ten dollars and four cents, (that was including the shipping), what an excellent deal! My new back-up cost a bit more, but I am willing to pay a bit for added extra security for when I need it!

This is a simple, easy to use MP3 player that is reasonably priced. It's great for young kids or people like me who like to listen to music, but don't have to have all the bells and whistles. It's a great buy!

This is a great little machine! For the price you can't beat it! It is so small and lightweight you can take it anywhere. So far all pros and no cons!!!

I got a great deal on my I Pod.. I washed my other one in the washer and ruined it. This one was cheaper than the one I bought off of ebay last time.

I bought the Apple iPod shuffle First Gen five days ago and was immediately impressed with the number of features available on this inexpensive Apple iPod shuffle First Gen. It has a nice look to it. The Apple iPod shuffle First Gen's size is perfect for carrying in a pocket and the battery has a pretty good lifespan of roughly 12 hours. I have no complaint. Other MP3 players I've owned have simpler menus and get you to important features easily. Overall, I'd recommend the Apple iPod shuffle First Gen if you're on a budget.

Defective product. Please be careful when you purchase an item on ebay!!! The seller offered a reissue or refund and is now reneging.

I bought this ipod from a guy who was evidently new to ebay (I should have checked that out, my bad). Anyway he never accepted my payment thorough paypal and ebay contacted me and I withdrew the payment. That's all there is except that I keep getting contacted by ebay to write a review so here it is.

WHat I love about this little Ipod Shuffle is it's lower cost and the good Apple quality I expected. It doesn't play alot of songs, but it's enough for a morning walk or jog in the park. The sound is good and the Ipod Shuffle is small enough to fit into your pocket. This was my first Ipod and I found it very easy to use.
The only thing bad thing is that it holds so few songs or audiobooks and podcasts. However, it's low price and ease of use make it great for a teen, or as a first Ipod.

The ipod was smooth as silk to the touch and the sound, mmmm, what a wonderful feeling. Used but in like new condition with music leaking from its pores!!!! Sound packing, quick delivery and a great feeling was brought to one and all....

I love the small clip on portability of it. It is so easy to use when working out and the sound is great quality. I would recommend to anyone who works out or likes to bike or walk.

I bought this ipod because it didnt cost that much and is supposed to be a good ipod. I am so glad that I did because my 4 year old daughter loves it. She didn't want to take it off. She can work it very easily. Downloading songs to it was a little confusing at first but I understand it now and have already downloaded close to 60 songs for her. I am thinking about buying another for my niece and myself.

Works wonderfully. Excellent sound and portability. Loading music was easy. The capacity is sufficient for general needs. The "shuffle" feature plays all songs equally over time.

Have three other I-pods for the rest of the family and all have performed very well, so I purchased this one for my self. Like the durability, performance and ease of operation.
