Apple iPod shuffle 2nd Generation Silver (1 GB, MB225LL/A) MP3 Player

I have to start out by saying that I really do like the size and convenience of the shuffle. For working out, riding a bike, etc, it does a great job. I really don't like not having a screen to see what I'm listening to or what is on the player, but that was expected with the Shuffle and is a compromise you have to make to get this size.
The one big dislike I have of this player is the interface with the computer (iTunes) and the charging capability (or lack of). If you have your shuffle charging on your computer and you are in a hurry you can't just pull it off the charging stand / interface. This could leave you with nothing on your shuffle at all. Also, if you aren't careful with your settings, you could end up replacing all of your music every time you plug it in to charge it. How hard would it have been to provide a charging interface that didn't immediately have to go to iTunes and risk deleting your music each time?
I have had the shuffle for a few weeks now and have had multiple times where I have brought it in to work only to find that the music I wanted isn't there (sometimes no music at all).
If it wasn't for this big concern I would really like this player for the purpose it is designed for: holding a few songs and randomly shuffling through them. However, this interface concern has me really wishing I had a different player.

I used to hate the iPod Shuffle months back because I thought it was too small, physically and also capacity wise, and also because it doesn't have an LCD screen like the rest of the iPods do. But now, those are the exact reasons <i>why</i> I like it. While biking, doing sports, and working out, I don't need an iPod or other MP3 player that can hold my entire music library. I don't need an LCD screen that just distracts me while I am trying to concentrate on my workout. I don't need an iPod that fills up my entire hand while holding it. All I need is a portable MP3 player that will get me through my entire workout. The iPod touch fully charges in 4 hours, weighs about a half of an ounce, holds roughly 240 songs (or about 500 songs for the 2-gb model), clips onto my shorts or sits in my pocket, and has a playback time of about 12 hours of consecutive music. Who needs an MP3 player that can play videos, shows album artwork, displays pictures, and can use games when all I need is music for a workout? You don't. So why bother carrying around something that does? When I exercise with my iPod Shuffle, I don't even notice it's there. It clips on my belt loop or shorts, or I can just let it sit in my pocket, without me noticing it's there. Unlike any other MP3 player or iPod that is very large and heavy, I can have fun without the discomfort of having a big MP3 player on my side.

For an MP3 player to use all day, I would recommend either the iPod Classic because of its capacity and an LCD screen and the iPod Touch if you like having wi-fi and a large LCD screen for pictures and videos. But if you're looking for a companion to help you through your workout, the iPod Shuffle is nicely-priced and a perfect solution.

Whether it's the 1 or 2gb model, that's up to you. But for $49 and $69, respectively, I think it's the way to go. And on top of that, you even get Apple's telephone technical support for your first 90 days and protection from any problems you may have with your iPod, rechargeable battery, and any included accessories for 1 year from your purchase date. I've had a number of Apple products, including a MacBook, 30gb iPod Video, and 8gb iPod Touch (which all still work like brand new, and all I still use), and I have never been dissatisfied with any of their products. And any time I have ever had a problem or question, their customer service was always there to help me, step by step. No matter what kind of MP3 player, you won't be let down if you choose Apple. And no, I don't work for them. I'm just one of their many proud and satisfied customers.

Its a very nice little ipod for a VERY cheap price, what more do you need ?, i use it when i run its perfect for that, im also use it when i am on my way to school and its perfect for that too, i cant really say a bad word about this beguese its SO cheap, so you get what you pay for

I love that this tiny (smaller than a matchbook)dynamo holds so many songs. It is extremely lightweight which is great during a jog or workout. You don't know that it's there. Easy to operate and not so expensive that one worries everytime its bumped, etc.

Pros: This compact little Ipod is wonderful. It clips onto your shirt, pocket or jacket, which is great for working out or even housework after the kids are in bed.

Cons: With this Ipod you can't back a song up a little bit (only skip or restart the song). If you're looking for an ipod with a display this is not for you.

Overall, this is a great Ipod for the person on the go!

So small and inconspicuous. Disappears on your person. Sleek looking and reliable as apple products always are.

My wife has had the ipod mini from years ago and still working(She did replace battery on her own once). I just wanted a very simple and inexpensive way to listen to music on my short commute on the NYC subways. $50 in the stores just seemed like too much for a player you can't see the names of the songs or pick freely. I think I got mine for under $35 on ebay? Just the right price in my opinion. Battery lasts forever and compact is an under statement. Just remember, you can't see the name or artist and you can't skip exactly to a song (can skip forward until you find it though). Can make a playlist and have it play in order. You don't have to just shuffle. NOTE: Why would anyone want a 2GB w/ 500 songs when they can't choose the songs by name? I say go for 1 GB for $35, 250 songs and just update your playlist. Also to charge it needs to be plugged into a USB port in a computer while the computer is on, there is no accessory included that charges to outlets in the wall. But it does charge very quick, like 4 hours. I say for $35 or under, go for it.

The Ipod shuffle is great for listening in the car and going for a run. You can put all of your favorite songs on it and never have to sort through all of the songs that you do not like. Great peice of electronics, could not live without it.

I like the price of the product for a younger child, but not having a screen is a pain. My son likes it and it has excellent quality.

This iPod shuffle is perfect for going to the gym or out for a stroll, we even use it at work from time to time. Holds a good amount of songs for a few hours of entertainment with having to repeast the same songs over and over! Simple yet effective! Perfect companion for you listening needs!

the ipod shuffle is a great running companion. I use mine three to four times a week while running or biking and it makes my workouts just fly by.

The shuffle is well supported by the itunes program. The portability of the little device and the large capacity of songs make this a pleasure to use. The controls are easy and intuitive. My one challenge is personally I can't wear the apple earbuds without alot of discomfort. I use the softer cuped skullcandy earbuds, no discomfort and they are more efficient. Over all the shuffle is alot of music for the price.

The only thing that I'm happy about with this iPod shuffle is how fast it came. I live in Hawaii and he shipped it from Oklahoma and it arrived in 3 days. However, the description did not say that the ipod was dented. He also sent it to me with generic headphones and charging dock. I will not buy from this guy again...

The iPodd Shuffle I bought is a great product. The reason I decided to buy it was because I wanted to listen to music while I was at the gym. It's very simple to use and gets the job done. Its compact size is great because it clips on to clothing and doesn't require any type of case. Great Product!
