Smaller than a cell phone, lighter than a man's wallet, as easy to use as instant Coffee. This is THE coolest iPod to come from Apple. The iPods are famous for their non-skipping, long lasting, and easy to use interface. This is no different. It's everything you love about the iPod then add more nice features and shrink it... twice. It's robust interface and no moving parts coupled with long battery life and even cleaner sound than the original iPod, this is definitely a winner. I can't tell you how many times people stare at it when I take it out to play with it.

The Good:
* Very cool
* Color screen
* Very thin .27 inches
* Small: 3.5 inches by 1.6 inches (62% smaller than the iPod Mini)
* Long battery life: Tested mine at over 12 hours
* Fast transfer of data: ~4 minutes to fill the 2 Gigs and ~8 minutes to fill the 4 Gig.
* Synchs with Microsoft Outlook
* Games
* Workout features like lap time
* World clock
* Screen lock to prevent thieves from using a stolen Nano
* Equalizer for the sound
* Photos
* Loads album image

The Bad:
* Very limited accessories at this time
* No voice recorder
* Can't zoom or pan video
* Chrome at the back picks up fingerprints easily
* Non-adjustable EQ
* Did crash on me once
* Album image only available if you purchased the song from iTunes. Uploading your CD doesn't work.
* Will likely be out of date in a few months as Apple quickly revs on the iPod product

 iPod Nano 2GB - Gorgeous Design. Perfect Size. 5/5

iPod Nano 4GB is Delicious 5/5

There are so many great reviews of the iPod Nano - but I will keep it rather straight forward and plain. My biggest compliment is that I've read all of the reviews on eBay and elsewhere and had very high expectations. No way the iPod Nano could live up to the expections... well, I was wrong. When I bought it and held it and listened to it - I could do nothing but smile. Its gorgeous. Its got great storage. Its amazing!

you pretty much asked for a good microdrive mp3 player, so i'll show you three of my absolute favorite.

creative zen micro
PROS: comes in 10 colors, touch pad interface, comes in 4, 5, and 6 gb, has radio, voice recorder, a removable batter and a charge cradle, very cool
CONS: none, really
http://www.creative.com/products/mp3/zenmicro/

next, the apple ipod nano
PROS: comes in white and black, color screen, very easy click wheel, uses apple itunes, which is fairly easy to use
CONS: maybe a little more expensive than the others for 4 gb, very fragile
www.ipod.com

lastly, the rio carbon
PROS: very slim, very affordable, comes in 3 different colors, best battery life, comes in 5 and 6 gb
CONS: maybe a little hard to find since rio shut down, but still findable nonetheless

hope this helps, tell me if it does.

 What's not to love?
Review created: 01/31/06

It's tiny, it stores a ton and it's priced right.

Men don't seem to love the little dial as much as I do as an average sized woman.

I think it's very ergonomic, very intuitive, reasonably priced and it's super light weight.

The only thing I don't like is the ear buds. I use an ipod almost exclusively at the gym and the sweat drips into the ear buds and really bothers me so I replace them with an old fashioned head set.

Still a 5 star item, it's just my preference.

 You've gotta hold it to believe it!

I've had a chance to play around with this for a few days now, and while I am a huge fan of the iPod Nano, it will not be replacing my 20GB iPod Photo anytime soon. It's Apple's own fault, really; they gave me 20GB (or 40, or 60) of space first, and now they want to take 90% of it away? Don't think so. I've come to believe what Apple's been telling me for a few years now: I NEED to take my entire music collection around with me everywhere I go. It's as essential as my cell phone and Metro Card. So for the storage reason alone, I can't chuck my 20GB model just yet. But the Nano really is a cool machine, and I imagine it will overtake the higher capacity iPods in popularity shortly because of its size, price, and cool factor.

Here's what I consider the improvements to be:
1. First and foremost, the transition to flash memory. This enables the Nano to be smaller and operate quieter than iPods that are hard drive-based. Make no mistake, flash memory is the future of digital music players;
2. The size, duh. Apple has made the Nano smaller without compromising much of the bright colorful screen. As we all now by now, it is thinner than a number two pencil (my 20GB iPod Photo, on the other hand, is probably three pencils thick). But it's still too large and delicate to jog with, without an optional accessory or two (arm band, lanyard headphones); and
3. The Apple-brand accessories that have been released concurrently with the Nano are affordable and well-designed.

...And what's not-so-great:
1. The price drop isn't that substantial, especially for what you get. For an extra $100, you can upgrade to a Photo that has ten times the capacity; and
2. The headphone jack is on the bottom of the Nano. I'm not sure what the logic behind this is-it seems like making a change for the sake of making a change to me.

Some wonderful things about the color iPods in general: they're very easy to use; their demure size could hardly be improved upon; the color screen is beyond adequate for viewing photos and album art; the battery life is exceptional; making playlists and controlling iTunes are simple tasks; all are compatible with Mac or Windows; and if you use a Mac, you can sync your iPod with your address book, to do list, and calendar (this has come in handy for me a number of times when I'm traveling). Also, if you're a college student or an educator at any level, the Apple Store (both the b&m and online versions) gives discounts on just about everything. For iPods it's about $20, but for computers it's up to $300

The bottom line on the Nano: it's a great entry-level MP3 player that will probably suffice for most listeners. However, if you're a music warrior who listens for many hours a day, many days a week, then 2-4GB is just too small to suit you--but of course you've had an iPod for three years now, and you already knew that.

 The iPod Nano: Give the Gift of Getting So Much Cooler
Review created: 11/26/05
8 of 9 people found this review helpful.

I finally have my first iPod product - the White Apple iPod nano. I did purchase a pink mini iPod for my boyfriend's daughter back in August, and didn't realize how badly I wanted one until after spending 4 hours upgrading the operating system of a computer just so she could begin downloading songs. When the email offering a free iPod nano (a.k.a. spam) came just about a month later, I didn't realize how quickly I'd bite.

Now, 2 credit card applications, 1 South Beach Diet and many other online subscription company cancelations later, I have finally received my very own 2GB iPod nano free as part of this marketing promotion by a company called Superbrewards.

You get:
- The nano unit itself
- Earbuds (comfy even in my little ears)
- Two sets of earbud covers (small, round fabric covers made of a black flimsy material)
- USB 2.0 cable for connecting your iPod to your PC or MAC (with plastic covers custom-made for each end)
- iTunes software CD for Mac and Windows
- A manual, software license agreement, and one-year limited warranty
- Two white Apple stickers to broadcast your purchase and give Apple some desperately needed visibility

The unit comes with a battery that’s about half-way charged and I charged mine fully in a little over an hour today. Apple’s official claim on this is Full-charge time: about 3 hours with abuilt-in rechargeable lithium ion battery when charging via USB or FireWire to computer system or power adapter (sold separately). This is very important: you do not need to purchase a separate charger! The USB connection also charges your iPod. I did not realize this when purchasing the mini and thought I had to get that “power adapter (sold separately)” thing. Yes, I’m an idiot. But hey, I’m not the only one and this statement can easily be misread to think that you won’t be able to charge it on its own.

Avoid Consumer Freak-Out #1
The first time you try to disconnect the USB cable from the nano unit, you might freak out because it doesn’t come out. Stop pulling on it and squeeze the sides. It’ll slide right out. There, now. Doesn’t that feel better?

 They all play music. You pay for the fad. Get a PDA

I got this thing for my girlfriend, thinking there are some great extras for the iPod. But it's just another MP3 player.

I am not thrilled with this thing. It can only play music and has a few games.

The only good thing about it is you can organize your music. You have to use Apple iTunes software for that, which can't copy songs from your iPod to your computer directly.

You cannot buy new games for this thing.

It's small, which is a strong point, but you cannot put it in your pants' pocket or bag because you will risk breaking it.

The iPod is in fashion, which adds to its value and I guess would also be considered a strong point.

Overall, because I would not buy something like this for myself, it makes a good gift. If you care about organizing music and are willing to spend a few extra bills, this one won't disappoint. Then again, I am not a music fanatic, so this is somewhat an outside opinion.

Thanks
Sam

i absolutly love the ipod nano. the design the size weight and the large screen for its size. be sure to buy a protective case and a screen protector however as with a product that is so small the possiblities of something happening to it are just as vast as the enjoyable experiences you can have with this amazing music player.

 The ipod but better and smaller
Review created: 04/09/06

Take everything you love about iPod and shrink it. Now shrink it again. The pencil-thin iPod nano packs the entire iPod experience into an impossibly small design. So small, it will take your music places you never dreamed of.

It holds up to two days worth of music.
It plays for up to 14 hours between battery charges.
It displays the color album art for the song you are listening to.
It carries your photos, podcasts and audiobooks.
It syncs seamlessly with iTunes.
It connects to a host of iPod accessories (sold separately).

Simply put, iPod nano is 100-percent iPod. And then some.

 The Only iPod You'll Need! Great Design & Usability!
Review created: 10/09/05
by:
5 of 11 people found this review helpful.

If you look at my other reviews, you'll notice that I am stingy with the stars, this is the only product to date which I have rated a 5 out of 5.

I've got a 30GB Photo, a 4GB Mini, and a 1GB Shuffle, and this is by far the best iPod I have ever used. With 4GB, I can carry about 400 songs at the best MP3 quality. I only use 320kbps, 44.1KHz, normal (not joint) stereo. I only use MP3 for portability, and not AAC. 400 songs gives me about 25 hours of play time, which is great for road trips pretty much anywhere!

The 30GB Photo is good for keeping my entire collection of songs in one place, but so is my laptop computer, where I have iTunes loaded. If I am on a plane trip, I can easily listen on the laptop if I have to hear a specific song not on the Nano.

In the car, the Nano is ultra-convenient as well. I can actually just velcro it to the dash board - it's so light - rather than buy an expensive dock/cradle for it.

The only possible fault with the nano is that the memory capacity is pretty small at 2 or 4GB. But this is a matter of technology still being developed, and I'm sure that we'll see much larger capacities in the near future. I'd also like to see Bluetooth built-in, so that it can play music through my car wirelessly - build this into the next edition Apple!

All in all, a great buy - you won't be disappointed. Expect people who have not seen the Nano in person to stare at your Nano when you walk by!

I luv my Ipod and it does work with pc or mac! The color screen is a definite bonus compared to black and white screens. It is very small and i think it is very strong. I have dropped mine a cupple of times and nothing has happened to it. 2GB is alot of space. 500 songs may sound like a little but trust me its alot.

What i like is how much stuff that it can do. It can not only hold a bunch of music it can also store pictures, games, clock, and a calender. I love the sound quality of the headphones it is amazing to have such little headphones and sound so good and clear. I also like that you can buy lots of accessories for it. The one thing about it I don't like about it is the price. If it wasn't for the fact that i could buy it on eBay than i probably wouldn't have purchased it, but now that i know how great the product is i may acctually spend the extra money to buy an ipod instead of any other mp3 type player.

 Review of 2 GB iPod nano

The price was great, even with shipping. I decided to buy it because I could get a nano for my daughter cheaper than buying it in the store. Since this is her first i Pod, I didn't think that it needed to be perfect. The product came as described, and was in good condition for her first i Pod. The only thing that was wrong with the product was that it didn't hold a charge very well. After inputting the serial number on the apple ipod website, I found out the product was still under warranty, and I could send it in free of charge for repair! What a bonus! I love it!

I bought my first Ipod Nano as a gift and we loved it so much I bought one for myself a week later. Nano is a slim powerhouse of an mp3 player. 500 song capacity with digital crystal clear sound. It's hard to believe such richa dn full sound is coming out of this tiny little unit! The compact size makes it virtually unnoticeable on my arm during workouts. Itunes software that comes along with it is simple to use and very user friendly. I would absolutely buy another Nano and in the future the next generation products from Apple. Never have had a problem and never expect to. A MUST HAVE product to be sure!

 Apple iPod nano A Great MP3 Player
Review created: 01/19/07
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

About a year ago I became interested in purchasing an MP3 Player. I shopped around trying out all the available brands at the time. My conclusion then and to this day is that Apple makes an MP3 Player that beats the rest in every aspect.

Why is it so good?

Ease of use. The learning curve on my Nano was 5 minutes. It is so easy to operate it's amazing. I've played with others that were just overly complex, yet did the same things as the Ipod.

Quality. From my year of ownership I'd have to say that the Nano is a very well built piece of electronics. I've had no problems to date despite heavy use and the occasional accident. The battery still holds a good charge after hundreds of recharges.

Accessaries! All you have to do is type "Ipod" in the ebay search engine and you will see that there are TONS of stuff you can buy to complement your Ipod. I've seen that it can be a real hassle to find aftermarket stuff for other brands. This allows you to really personalize your Ipod and make it fit any application you need it for. Example, I just purchased a 2007 Honda Fit. For a little extra the dealer installed the Honda Music Link. This allows me to plug my Ipod into the car's sterio and search through my song using voice prompts!

Conclusion: The only downside I see is in the difference in price. It is possible to purchase most other brands at a lower price. But you are definitely getting more for your money when you buy the Ipod for 50 bucks or so more.
Hope this helps!

If this guide has helped you in any way, please click "Yes" below and keep it alive.
