Besides what you can read for yourself on apple.com, I'll tell you what I have found. These are just raambling snippets of info that may spark your interests. With a little research on these topics, you'll be on your way to enjoying the magnificent iPod.

I have dropped my iPod twice. Once in a train station in Canada on a granite floor. No Damage. Not a scratch. Not a problem. Simply amazing.

Sunscreen will damage the plastic of the iPod. You would think they tested the plastic for this since it is a must have item at the beach or pool. I have a permanent finger print on the face now.

I bought the Apple dock, but hardly ever use it. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't buy it.

MUST HAVE! There are clingy, removeable clear screen protectors you can buy to protect the plastic face of your iPod. Buy them (they usually come in pairs). It will keep the screen from scratching. Made by Madkatz, ClearTouch, etc. Search "iPod Screen protectors" on Ebay.

Every Tuesday, Apple updates their store with a free tune. It's usually excellent, but it's usually someone you've never heard of before. You don't have to own an iPod to use iTunes. Download it and reap the same benefits.

You can subscribe to the free Podcasts of your choice in iTunes. These Podcasts are very entertaining. There are meny topics and areas of interest in iTunes. There are additional casts on the web. Again, You don't have to own an iPod to use iTunes. Download it and reap the same benefits.

Do your research before you buy a charger. The iPod video only come with a usb cable for charging via the powered usb on your pc. Apple's wall charger uses the usb cable and costs 30.00 USD. Look at other choices like Belkin. For the same money, you get more.

Buy the Apple in-ear bud style headphones. Also buy Shure E2c foam sleeves. Take off the grey rubber Apple tips and put the Shure's on. The sound quality is the best you'll find for the price. You get a better seal in the ear canal. I have a $300 set of Denon audiophile can style headphone with 40mm drivers. The Apples sound as good. For noise isolation and improved bass, this trick is for you. I had to set my iPod EQ to reduce bass to balance the new level. It's great now.

Unless DLo made improvements to the transpod for your auto avoid it. It has poor sound quality and low level output. I usually listen to my audio in the car on level 18. With the DLo I have to increase the volume to 35+ for the same output. At that level, background noise is amplified during quiet passages. It is an excellent charger, all downfalls aside.

It's just the coolest thing I've ever owned!

I hope you like the review!!

Good little nano - not as durable as the 2nd gen model

Don't bash this thing around or sit with it in your pocket or the screen will break.

For runners these things are great with armbands.

This 1st gen nano has good battery life, but more susceptible to scratches and breakage.

The good:
This is the best mp3 player money can buy, I bougth mine used about 3 weeks ago and let me tell you, It;s been a great three weeks. The best feature is the compact size, you can carry it anywhere.
The bad:
The offside is that it gets scratches just by looking at it, so don't forget to buy a cover skin for protection.

I got burned on this transaction. The item I bought was not as decribed and the was 'almost' dead on arrival, due to the fact that the internal batter was only holding a minimal charge. The item was described as a 'display' item. Infact it was overly worn and used to the extend of being almost useless.

I asked the seller to refund my money if I returned the iPod to him. He refused, indicating he would only make an exchange. I shipped it back to him by express post for an exchange. I used postal tracting and when Canada Post indicated that the package had be deliverd. I contacted the seller and asked that he send the replacement. He claimed he never recived the package. First claiming that I sent it to the wrong address - this was checked it was the right address. When I informed him of this he said 'oh yes' - I will check my mail. I have no doubt that this person has the item, as well as my money, and is refusing to honor the purchase agreement.

I have been burned in this tranaction to the extent that I will never use eBay again to buy or sell anything. It is just not worth the risk when you have so many scam artists operating from your site. I will not be burned again.

If you are interested in developing confidence in your site, I suggest that the transaction of this seller be suspended until such time as he honors the purchase agreement.

Disatisfied and frustrated buyer,

Peter

  The Best Out There

All Apple products are truly great. The iPod nano is so small and sleek but yet can fit 1,000 songs on it! It doesn't end there.... other than being able to put on songs, you can also put pictures on it. I would definitely recommend getting this product. I have had mine for about 6 months now and I couldn't be happier. You really get a good bang for your buck. Yes, maybe competitors have MP3 players for around 250 as well, however the designs by Apple in the nano is just breath-taking.

Apple iPod nano 4GB is ideal for people who do not need extremly large music collection. It is very small and can be easily fit into your pocket. It is excellent for people who love music and like to be able to listen to the music without carry a huge player or CD's.
Very easy to configure. Although I have seen a lot of people who having problem updating the songs or windows unable to find the ipod after a while. The problems can be easily fix using the help guide in iPod's support section.
You might find the price quite high. It took me a while to find 2 good deals. If you are looking to buy one, take your time and you will find a deal that will save you a lot of money.
Good luck! :)

I'm an iPod lover from the beginning, so when I decided to get my 15 year old an mp3 player, this was the natural choice.

Dollar for dollar, the size of the unit, the size of the hard drive and the durability of the case is EXCELLENT. It is probably the BEST mp3 player you can buy for use at the gym or ANYWHERE where you need to have portability! Apples ear buds are also excellent compared to other clones. Bass and seperation of stereo is firmly addressed, the wiring of the speakers is taut and the length of the cable is appropriate.

Buy a sleeve for this unit and you should have NO PROBLEMS. It will be money well spent, sleeves will protect from moisture and will cushion SOME jostles and drops (obviously don't toss it out a 3rd story window!).

By the way, 4GB is more storage than you think it is!!!!!!! My advice is always buy as much as you can afford and you will be pleasently suprised and the room you'll have.

Don't let bad sellers dissuade you from buying a Nano (or ANY iPod for that matter). Just research your needs and RESEARCH you SELLER! If you're going to lay out a lot of bucks, it's WORTH THE TIME! One last thing, you don't get something for "nothing". If it seems to good to be true, it IS.

Review of Apple iPod Nano (4 GB)
Review created: 09/12/06
by:
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

The reason I decided to buy the Nano was hugely based on the fact that it held a significant amount of music disproportionate to it's size. This thing, and I hate to hint at their slogan, is amazingly small. I mean it literraly can fit into almost anything and is extremely light-weight. Most of my friends who neglected to purchase it did so because of a fear that they might break it; I'd like to say that this should not be anyone's fear. This thing is very well built for its size and technology. The sound quality is superb, the graphic interface is awesome (in comparison to most digital MP3 players), and the battery life is perfect. Though I believe it is a bit pricey for it's memory capacity in comparison to other iPods, I understand it took extra effort, planning and development to get everything into a case no thicker than the size of a pencil with an LCD & clickwheel.
I'd have to say one thing I dislike about the Nano, and I'm not sure if this is true for other iPods, is that it scuffs VERY easily. By scuffs I mean hairline scratch type things, which are VERY VERY easy to make. I had my girlfriend's open for all of 5 minutes before I realized there was already a slight hairline scratch. These aren't particularly visible, but when they are on the screen it does of course fracture the flow of light so you can see them. This can be removed pretty easily with any scuff/scratch cleaner (icleaner.com). To prevent this, I simply purchased an iSkin with a screen protector (and adds padding for slip & drop accidents), and it has suited me fine. Even with the skin on (which adds significant bulk, about twice its size), the thing is STILL very small.
Even with the easy-scratch surface, I give this product a 5/5. I think that aspect, if fixed, would make the iPod Nano flawless. I've heard things about battery issues but I haven't experienced any, so I can't comment on it. Anyway, I recommend this product to everyone and if you have the means to splurg on it, go for it! You won't regret it!

  iPod nano 4GB MP3 Player

It takes a while to find a good deal on an iPod nano, but when I found it and won the acution I was truly glad. The nano has a very small design which I like and it can be used anywhere and for its small size can hold a great amount of songs and pictures. Also since I got the nano I have dropped it several times and no damage was done to it! The one thing I did not like about the nano is that it gets fingerprints on it to easily, that is why I bought a case for it as soon as I got it. The nano can go over 20 hours of listening to music without needing to re-charge. Overall I do reccomend the nano as a gift to any music lover since it is very sleek looking, compact and great for in or out of home use.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE NANO
Review created: 11/16/06
4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Ipod nano is the best thing to happen to happen to digital music since the iPod itself. I bought this in hopes to have the next cool thing out there, ( i had a mini before and sold it to buy a nano because i didn't have 1000 songs and i wanted to have pictures)

When i first got it it was GREAT, i plugged it in and all the sudden within about ten minutes it was updated with the latest software and it had all my music and pictures on it. Then things went bad.

I was going on a trip that day and when i was back i noticed my iPod nano was scratched. it had not been abused, or even near something that could have scratched it. Go to any store with one on display and you'll see that pretty much whenever you touch it it scratches. YOU MUST BUY A SKIN AND SCREEN PROTECTORS OR IT WILL BE SCRATCHED UP LIKE AN OLD RECORD!

Because the screen is just under the plastic that covers the front of the nano the whole screen is very vulnerable to scartches and smudges which are very hard to get off on this certain plastic.

Positives:

small and sleek

holds all the music most people need

is great if you want pictures but not video

in my opinion sound quality is pretty good.

Negatives:

More Fragile Than a glass ornament

screen is too small for pictures

apple's customer support is really bad

no wall charger, a big problem for those of us that can't get to our usb ports easily on our cpu.

if you are looking for a great toy buy a psp. if you are looking for a mp3 player, try something else. if you must have this, get a knight's armour!

Ipod Nano - great big MP3 player in a little package!
Review created: 09/14/06
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I received an Ipod Nano 4GB for Christmas 2005, and I absolutely love it! I can't use the earbud phones so I use some lightweight headphones I had from a portable CD player, and best of all is you can use any kind of headphones or external speakers that you want. I bought a small external speaker for $1 from a dollar store and guess what? The sound quality is still excellent! I'm never going to use my portable CD player again when I can have clear, skip-free sound from the little but mighty Nano.
The Nano is well worth it's $199 price tag; however don't buy it from an overseas seller because you will probably end up with a knock-off or an Ipod that's been programmed in a foreign language.

I love that the nano is small and holds so many songs and pictures. I don't like that the cost of the 4gb nano is nearly as much as the 30gb video iPod. You have so much less memory in the nano. Other than that it is great!

The nano is great if you are looking for a chic little MP3. The 4GB holds more songs than I can fill it with and is very easy to use. It fits anwhere and everywhere. Scratches easy so I suggest you get a protective film for it. However the wish list I would have for it are better earphones, the ones that the Ipod come with are so big they hurt my ears, sound is terrible too. It also needs to have a place on the screen for the timeso I can know how long I have been working out.

It's amazing how many cd's we were able to load onto it and still have room to download new songs as they come out. We bought it used and it was advertised to have a few tiny scratches on the screen...good thing we didn't let that stop us from purchasing it bc you can hardly see them and we use it mostly for music anyways. Do make sure that you get the software, usb port plug, charger dock, and headphones. You can buy these separately but we found it very conveniant to find a seller who included all of these...Happy Bidding!

  Grossly Misrepresented
Review created: 08/03/06

I recently purchased an Apple Ipod 4 GB Nano MP3 player on Ebay. I was so looking forward to down loading music and books on tape/CD that I could conveniently listen to on my upcoming trip and plane ride, as well as just on the go, or on my morning run, on my bike or in my car. When I received the MP3 player that the Ebay SELLER described a 4 GB Nano MP3 player in "GOOD WORKING CONDITION." What I received was JUNK and almost worthless. The screen was cracked, which does not allow the MP3 player to display the name or title of any of your music, the name of the band, artist, title of the book, author, etc. I subsequently filed a complaint with Ebay and contacted the SELLER both and still nothing. The SELLER has still not contacted me, in response to my request to either send me a 4 GB Nano that works, or refund my money. I recommend you be EXTREMELY careful when purchasing ANYTHING on Ebay,
as there are numerous dishonest Ebayers that GROSSLY MISREPRESENT items and JUNK that they are trying to unload on honest Ebayers.

I love my ipod nano. It's so compact and easy to use. What a gem to have along at the gym or even when I'm out for a hike. What's even better is that I bought it for less as a refurbished item. It had the same warranty as a brand new ipod so I am covered if there are any problems!! I couldn't even tell it was refurbished. Apple took great care to ensure this was brought to "like new" standards.

PROS:
I had Nano - 2 GB, this time I purchased 4 GB, which is much better for those who travels a lot. You can use it as player and info storage, like flash card ( more expensive though)
CONS: The battery life is not good at all, if you have an international flight, it beraly lives through the flight (9-10 hrs), if you did not use it at the airport.
