Apple iPod nano 3rd Generation Silver (4 GB) MP3 Player

The 3rd generation Nano, Available in capacities of 4, and 8GB (priced at $149 & $199 respectively) these have a scratch-resistant aluminum front, steel back (i recommend a cover to protect the back), rounded edges, and various colors, though the colors are only available in the 8GB models. You can get a 4GB Nano, though it only comes in Silver.

The 3rd Generation Nano has completely redesigned the Nano, and it feels like it is different on the sides when you hold it comparatively to the older generations. This design also makes it feel a lot thinner than it was, which is hard to believe, though it is only millimeters thinner. The screen has changed too, having a 2-inch viewing area, which makes it very easy to use, browse and watch. This new Nano now has a longer battery life. Apple claims that it will last 30 hours, but I was able to get just over 32 hours of playtime – which is nice… real nice.

The 3rd generation Nano comes with similar features as the previous version such as Volume Limit, Stopwatch, Screen Lock, and support for the Nike + iPod Sport Kit, but now has a wide variety of features, previously not found in the previous generations.

The new music search functions, the brighter screen (65% brighter than the 2nd generation), improved sound quality, coverflow, and added games give the new iPod added flare. The biggest difference in the 3rd generation of the iPod Nano is the new body style and the video capability additions.

The body style has changed from the “stick of gum” shape, to the internet given nickname “fatty”. The wider iPod allows for a larger, 2.0 inch screen that allows for a larger viewing area for games, albums, but more importantly - video. Yes, the new Nano allows a “little video for everyone”.

The video quality is sharp and crisp, and allows the user to watch TV shows with little strain, however, watching movies can strain the viewer (due to the length). This flash based memory player, and its storage size (4/8GB) allow for thinness, but if you put a couple of full length movies on your player, your space will fill up quickly. This is the one downside I have with this – hopefully there will be larger space selections in the future.


Also, the bottom of this unit has changed slightly. The headphone jack, the hold switch and the sync port are at the bottom, with the sync port directly in the middle. This allows for ease of use to transfer data.

s a fan small MP3 players, and of the past Nano line-ups, I love this design. I really do. I think the aluminum casing is the way to go, it is too bad it is not all the way around the unit. Should you replace your old 8GB Nano (2nd Generation) with the new one? If you really want video, coverflow, and games, I would say yes. Regardless if you upgrade, or decided to wait it out, I highly recommended this device to Apple lovers and new MP3 enthusiasts alike.

I have had my 3rd generation iPod Nano for about 6 months. So far it has been great. It's small slim size is great for travel, the battery can last up to more than a week with no charge. The newer iPods seem to have upgraded software compared to the older generations, you can now play high quality video, and use the new "Cover Flow" feature which allows you to scroll through your music with ease using the album cover. You can also play games with the iPod. Games can now be downloaded from the iTunes store. The iTunes software is also very convenient and easy to use for syncing your iPod.

The larger screen appears very clear and bright for watching video or viewing pictures, even in bright light. The strong dulled front cover of the iPod gives it a nice sleek look similar to that of the Mini design. The click wheel is very smooth and convenient to use.

Overall probably the only cons about the iPod probably is the storage capacity of the 4GB. It is alot of space for music, but this does not allow alot of Photos or Video to be put on. At the most it will hold maybe three or four movie long videos not including photos or songs. Also, like all of the other iPods, The polished back silver cover easily gets scratched and often needs to be cleaned. With all of that said, I hope this review helps..,

I like the nano for the size, ease of navigation, and durability. I currently also own a zune and like that better though. More storage space, and a lot bigger screen.

Sent money order out the day after auction ended & 2 weeks later he contacted me saying he would send ipod out soon. 3 weeks later & still no ipod. I emailed him he gave me story about not hearing from me & promised me to mail it out by 3-5-08 with confirmation number sent to me . All in all bad experience & won't let this guy jip me again ! 7 weeks & counting & still waiting , no refund no ipod !!

The most I like about the iPod nano video 3rd generation is its size, very small and very easy to carry on. The style is really nice. I had a few reasons to buy this product; the main one is that the item is new, it comes sealed from the Apple factory; secondly the seller gave me a lot of confidence just by checking their feedback rate I could tell they are a very strong seller on Ebay and their reputation is really good; and the last reason I could mention is the price, very affordable, a lot cheaper than buying it from another store like Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc. and its the same quality. I would really recommend this item to other Ebayers who are looking into buying a MP3 player.

i like this ipod because is very portatil, it does not play videos but it is okay, i like it, and also have 4GB very good to carry many songs

Great deal on Nano! I bought this as a gift 3 weeks ago. I was impressed with this amazing little device. Person I bought it for loves this Ipod. The 8GB Ipod was perfect for this person. The ease of use and small size were impressive to someone who has never owned a device like this one.

I bought the Ipod for a Christmas gift. I loaded some music on it and it works fine. Because the shipper did not get it out in a timely manner I was offered either a credit for shiping on my next purchase or a pair of head phones and an extra charger for the I pod which I opted for the latter. I have been waiting 35 days for my Ipod after my payment has cleared. The seller said 7-10 days and now I'm worried that it won't arrive. I emailed the seller 2 times and the second they didn't even write back. I was planning on giving this Ipod to my Mother in Law as a Xmas gift. I purchased it on Oct 30th and who would have imagined I wouldn't have received it by now. If I don't receive my Ipod or my money back I will never use Ebay again and would be extremely pissed off. I disliked the transaction complete bafoon...........on My sons Birthday he picked the item........watched him walk to the mail box for a Month.....Still no item. asked seller 10 times at least. to send item......Had absolutely no response......ZIP! I was very excited that I had won a ipod nano, my daughter really wanted this for Christmas. Well when I received it, to my surprise it was not a ipod it was some fake look a like. I have order several things from ebay and never been burnt like this before. So I am not happy about this purchase and hopefully this will not happen again.

Wow, I couldnt have been happier with this transaction, I have been wanting a iPod and I couldnt tell this was not a brand new one, there wasnt a scratch on it and I got it fast. If you need a iPod, now you know where to get one.

The Ipod Nano 4GB has a little tinny scratch in the screen which, I already knew.

So far, everything works fine.

The iPod itself is small and sleek, completely unobtrusive, which is what I wanted. Very easy to use, menu is simple, downloading songs from a site or a CD are accomplished with ease. I bought this to "aid in exercising" - so far the iPod has over a hundred of my favorite songs and I am gearing up to actual body movement. Extremely happy with the product, if only my resolution to fitness was as strong as the need to purchase the iPod.....oh well!
