Apple iPod Video Fifth Gen. White (80 GB, MA448LL/A) Digital Media Player

I have been using the 80gb iPod Video for several days now, and I am extremely pleased. First, a note of caution. The surface of this unit is identical to the earlier iPod video, so it is extremely prone to scratching. My 60gb iPod video was always transpored in the $99 Apple leather case, and it still attracted scratches! This one comes with a chamois-like form-fitted pouch which does a nice job of protecting the finish, but provides no protection from hits or drops. The screen is bright! Much brighter than the earlier models. The integration with iTunes 7 takes the hardware/software experience to a new level. I purchased some games and TV shows, which downloaded flawlessly, and playback time appears very impressive (read: better battery life). I'll know better on my next 12 hour flight to Asia, of course! 80gb is a staggering amount of storage space. I have nearly 10,000 songs, several music videos, several FULL seasons of TV shows, my contacts and my date book data, and a few purchased games, and I am barely halfway to filling the drive. The new iTunes interface screen for the iPod is much more friendly, allowing different settings to be made for, say, music, TV shows, PodCasts, etc. from within a tabbed browser environment. Apple still demonstrate that less IS more, and the total user experience blows away anything else in the market. It would be hard to imagine another solution (player/online store) emerging that could get the experience any better than Apple does. Though I realize several are trying... Zune anyone? :)


*Technically this is still not the iPod Video, this is still an iPod with video playback; rumors are still buzzing about a Widescreen iPod, but still no official word*

-Expensive accessories (not many in box)
-Cheap earbuds

BOTTOM LINE: If you are too hardcore for the 30GB version, than this is definately your cup of tea. This is the perfect MP3 player for any causual music and video enjoyer's needs!

Downloaded ALL my music...all types...and still haven't hit 10% capacity. Am now able to explore the world of downloaded TV shows, podcasts and music videos to take with me on air travel for those boring hours in airports/planes. The video capability is truly amazing and smooth. Very clear pictures. If you are thinking about an iPod don't worry this one can do it all. The only negative thing I'll say is that Apple doesn't give you very clear instructions on start up. Being over 50, I'm not as tech saavy as the younger folks, so it took me way too long to download my songs from iTunes onto the iPod because of the lousy instructions. But now that I'm up and running, I'm addicted. I also think it stinks that they (Apple) don't give you a decent case to keep the thing in to keep it from getting scratched.

I totally love it. I have 51 movies on it nd I still have 56 gb. I plan to fill it up. The sound is amazing and it was so easy to use. I bought a griffin and now I cn play my ipod in the car through the speakers. I would recommend it to everyone. Buy a dvd to ipod ripper, that is amazing and easy to use. It is also easy to trnsport your cds to your ipos through itunes.

a co-worker showed me his 80gb ipod that he listens to at work all shift long. it was the first time i had seen an ipod in person. as he explained the potentials / possibilities of ipod - i knew i had to have one. when he offered to load mine up w/ what's on his, i was all over that in a hot n.y.second.

so i got a new ipod 80gb off ebay. personally, i am convinced that world peace could be achieved by giving all people an ipod w/ music that is meaningful to them. there is no better, more personal, affordable, transformational gift. it speaks to a persons soul and improves everything.

I never received this item. I received a box with miscellaneous items in it. I do not plan on using ebay again. I've had several complications trying to get a refund and to this date, nothing has been resolved!

I can not write a reviw about this item. This was a fraud I never received the Item. I put a cliam thru Paypal.

I had a 30gb, and decided to change it for a 80gb Ipod, really nice and handy to carry, thicker that 30gb unit, but I guess that is the price for 50 additional gbs.

Seller had excellent rating until 2 days after my purchase. I was excited to get a new 80gb I-pod and took many days to finally win.

I never received the i-pod, the seller never contacted me after repeated efforts, and I lost nearly $100 because Pay Pal, who isn't much of a buddy, only covered $200 of the loss.

I am very disappointed and I don't trust what I read on e-bay after this experience. I have not made a purchase on e-bay since, and right now I don't know if I will buy ever again.

This was my largest purchase on e-bay, and I may have been unfortunate enough to get a seller who lacked all integrity, ethics, and class, but he set up a scam that fooled at least 4 other people as well.

I never got the ipod,the seller was fraud.I only get 70% refund.Thats enough to make me stay away from ebay!

I love the Ipod. It makes my entire music catalog so portable. I have over 600 cd's, not to mention the music I have downloaded on my PC. The Ipod is easy to use, very durable and well worth the money. Maybe one of the best purchases I have ever made.

I previously had the 4 Gig Nano, and was recently given a new 80 Gig. I was already happy with my little Nano, but now I'm extremely happy with the new extremely large memory 80 Gig. It take a bit of time to copy and convert a movie so it can be added to the IPod, but the software was free, and once on it even with the best quality, very little memory is taken. I am extremely pleased with it, and even with NO problems from the 4 Gig, I will never go back to the little memory, and no video capabilities Nano.

It has alot of memory and I can watch movies. It is thin and nice quality. I can keep my whole library of music on this iPod.

Love it!! Perfect!! Tons of space for EVERYTHING!! Purchased it as upgrade from 30G IPOD....and Its the best.

It was better than I expected. There really weren't any visible signs of it being used. So far the unit is working as expected.

Love the storage capability,Dont care for the fact it is larger than the 30gb but the screen size is the same. Overall very happy with the 80gb Ipod

I already had one, but my boyfriend wanted one. So, I bought it for him. He is very happy! I got the ipod really fast compared to the one I had bought for me throught another ebay seller. He loves the ipod so it works great. Nice to do business!

I decided to buy the ipod because I had purchased a 60GB iPod two and a half months earlier (from EBay) for my daughter(who is 16) for christmas. I loved hers and found myself borrowing it more than she desired, so I purchased one for myself. I received the item in a very timely manner and in excellent condition. It was still in the original box with all items. It looked new and had no scratches or signs of use at all. I am very pleased with my purchase and with the price that I gave for it. Now I don't have to fight with my daughter for hers.

The video ipod is the next best thing from apple, ever. The video ipod is no more than the size of a slim digital camera, and it can play all the songs you can imagine! The video ipod is great, but it has some problems:

Cons:

Scratchs Easily,(put it in your pocket and it comes out scratched, even if there was nothing in your pocket.

Headphones are awful so you will need to pay twenty bucks for another pair.

Has random gliches that are annoying.

Apple's customer service is awful and after 90 days you have to pay for your customer service.



So, to conclude, if you are in the market for the video ipod, buy it! But take good care of it and treat it like your only child.

I never recieved my IPOD, I was ripped off twice this past month. I can't believe you asked me for a review!

I bought for him for Christmas. It is an excellent product and he loves it. He stores his favorite video and music clips on it and the sound an picture quality is kick ass!

The new iPod video is by far the best your money can buy. It has enough memory for ALL your music, and many hours of video. It keeps the kids entertained in the car or roadtrips, and keeps me entertained on the subway on the way to work. There is more then enough room on this device to store, all of my music, and the kids videos as well.

The new screen is sharp, and bright, and the battery life is excellent.

There might be other players out there which try to compete with this product, but take my word for it, they do not come close! the ipod has many OEM, and third party accessories, while the 'other' brand(s) have only basic accessories. It is a real convenience, when you can buy any accessory, in any price range, color and size you can possibly imagine.

Bottom line? Dont waste your time with the cheap imitators, stick with the one which started it all...iPod!
