Two things I don't like about the iPhone: You have no access to the battery, which obviously means you have to take it in for servicing to have the battery changed.

And even though there is a software unlocking proceedure, thanks to the incredible work of the DevTeam, and sim card devices, the fact remains Steve Jobs locked a good portion of his followers out by marketing it to but one sole carrier.
Okay....three thngs! It is slippery! EASY to drop if you're not careful. It's a shame to hide its beauty under a cover, but with such an expensive device, it is recommended.
Cell phones come and go....but the iPhone is going to be a tough act to follow.

This phone has the capabilities of a phone, computer, my brain, a calculator, INTERNET, and even an Ipod, all in 1.. I love it!

Today I had the pleasure of reviewing and comparing it with my own first generation iPhone. So now I’m here to give you the low down between the two, and what I like better about each.

The Look and Feel

My iPhone has the smooth metal finish with the black strip on the bottom. The front has a shinny metal bezel which ends around the screen. The buttons are all constructed on plastic and move very easily. The earpiece is back with a black plastic, and the bottom speakers/speakerphone is hidden behind plastic mesh. The headphone jack, is unfortunately recessed.

The iPhone 3G has a smooth glass black finish (also available in white). This finish runs unbrokenall around the 3G, and ends in the same place as mine with the shiny metal bezel. All the buttons on the 3G are now constructed with shiny metal (except the home button). This gives them a thicker feel over the cheap feel of the iPhone’s plastic buttons. Instead of a black finish behind the ear piece, there is now a silver perforated mesh. This same mesh is used for the bottom speakers/speaker phone. A new aspect on the bottom side of the 3G is the inclusion of two screws, which could presumably be used to open the case. The second greatest difference is the new inclusion of a no-recessed headphone jack.

The main difference between the interior and exterior of the iPhone and the iPhone 3G, is of course the backside casing. Another key difference is the shape of the back of the two phones. My iPhone is flat across the backside, with rounding near the edges. On the 3G, this rounding much more pronounced as it take on the form of a drawn out dome that tapers near the edges. The rounded back of the 3G also extends out further than that of the original iPhone. The iPhone 3G is also slightly wider than the original iPhone, though not enough to notice. The screen of the iPhone 3G is also slightly warmer than the original, as was mentioned on the news a few weeks ago.

The Features

The difference in features between the iPhone and the iPhone 3G are not large. The 3g does have GPS, and the capability to download data at higher speeds over the 3G network. After testing the GPS, I found it to be very accurate, finding our location within a matter of seconds. Comparing this to the cellphone tower triangulation on the original iPhone, the 3G is clearly more precise.
The 3G network is much faster than the 2G. The 3G showed less bars, whereas my 2G showed full bars. Turning off 3G showed the same results as my iPhone on the 3G. The 3G was faster downloading App’s and browsing the internet.

Other than the GPS and the 3G network, there is no real difference between the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G as features go.

Overall comparison

Comparing the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G side by side, it is obvious that the iPhone 3G wins as far as new hardware goes. The only thing that I dislike about the 3G is the black backing. I much prefer the aluminum backing on my 2G iPhone. The other thing I dislike about the 3G is it’s more expensive data plan and lack of included text messaging. I don’t want to pay $15 more dollars a month than already do, so I think for now I will be keeping my iPhone. I imagine I will wait until the next iteration of the iPhone is out to trade my 2G in.

The 3G is an upgraded 2g. I also own a 2G and the 3G is faster,brighter,and feels better in your hand. The 2G is awesome but the 3G is better. I use TMobile and have not had any problems at all. This 3G I received is running 2.2.1 on bandwith 3.0 and I have it unlocked and jailbroken. Hands down the best without a comparison!!

The iphone is really good! The only problem is that, when you go to buy an iphone online make sure it is UNLOCKED that means you can use it with any carrier you want.If you buy an iphone LOCKED you are in really trouble just like me. I boght an iphone by e-bay two weeks ago which is LOCKED now i can use it only with att but if i wanted to use it with att i would have bought one from att for 299.00 brand new with 2 years contract.

Whether you plan to unlock it and use it abroad or not, the iPhone has all that you're looking for. Internet, iPod, Gaming System, Video device, and don't forget it's a phone too!

One can get the specs for these phones anywhere so I'll just offer my personal opinion on this entire phenomenon.

On a whole the iPhone is an enjoyable multi faceted gadget. It operates pretty much without glitch, is fairly quick in terms of response time and is certainly up there with the best in terms of technological advancement.

Do not however be caught up in the hype. This is not the best gadget since the invention of the wheel and it could be and will get better.

If you do your home work and do not absolutely HAVE TO have an apple device, you will find there are a whole slew of phones out there that already have higher specs, feature for feature, with newer and more dazzling technologies on the horizon. For instance you can already buy, in Europe and the states, phones with 8MP cameras onboard aside from other advanced functionality. There are also a large number of very similar devices with touch screen capability and onboard operating systems.

There is a technology race on and Apple is only one competitor.

I own an iPhone 3G and have also owned numerous other smart phones so I'm going to tell it to you straight. Expect a new version before the end of this year with amongst the new line up an improved camera. Expect also the price in contract terms to come down with a contract free version very likely.

The true triumph of the iPhone is the way it has stirred up a sense of innovation and originality and for that I have to give it credit.

with this phone. It's so much more than a phone. It does make excellent calls but it's everything you could ever need, a street mapper, a calender, an mp3 player, you can completely customize it, add applications to make this thing even easier to use. Where to find the cheapest gas or what restaurant nearby do kids eat free. I am a mom, my son is autistic, I use it to keep track of his therapists appointments and the specialists. I can email and text to my hearts content, and this phone reminds me of all his appointments with reminders two hours and one hour before. It keeps track of my weight loss, and with the 3.0 update soon to be out, you can buy a blood pressure cuff and keep track of what your blood pressure is running and if there is an area for concern email it to your doctor. No more searching through menus to get to something you want, everything as an icon out front and you get what you want. This phone is worth its salt and more. Definitely lives up to the hype.
