In 1971 on any sunday was released. I saw on any sunday for the first time then. I was already hook on what was to become a life long passion.
I now teach motorcycle mechanics at MMI Phoenix AZ. I used to show it to my theory class Aproxamently ever (6) six weeks. I have now seen On any sunday about (100) one hundred times. I always enjoy it and looked foward to showing it. It is a honest look at the sport I love, if you past the dated sound track it is as good today as it was (35) thirty five years ago. Truly a classic.

1970's setting....bascically a documentary. All types of cycle racing covered. Great personal interest stories as several racers are profiled. Some pretty amazing detail on specialized racing in Europe. A great way to spend the afternoon if you are into riding.

Some great footage with Steve McQueen as well.

A glimpse, of many parts, of motorcycling in its (sic) primative days.

Amazing we are still living.

It showed how far we have come in how motorcycles have been made better now. Better in metals and performance, also in workmenship. Still a fun film to watch.

  Classic Movie
Review created: 07/15/09
by:

This is a classic documentary about the sport of motorcycling. If you didn’t grow up around motorcycles like me this movie is a real motivator. Riding through the forest, desert, on a track or even on the street, this movie can inspire you to start riding.
The biggest problem with today is when you look back at this classic you see that the USA (especially my State, CA) has lost touch with this magnificent sport that has touched many lives young and old. We are now looked at as the non-stewards of our public lands that allot of this took place on. The environmentalists are trying to shove us into smaller areas and the sport has grown considerably in past years. What you find is crowded dangerous riding. Sad how we now look at old flicks and wish we haven’t gone in the direction are in. I highly recommend this movie to anyone that does not ride and to those that do. If you are old enough to remember this in the Movie Theater you can join me in flash backs of yester year.

While it's almost forty years old, On Any Sunday is not dated. It still perfectly captures the essence of motorcycling much better than the dentist dressed in leather riding his $30,000 motorcycle or the young kid wheelying down the freeway between cars travelling 70 miles per hour.

If you love motorcycles, this is a must see! It was made in 1971, the bikes are not modern, but the story is still relevant. It shows what someone is willing to go through for the love of the sport, and how easy today's racers have it! THe last time I saw this, I was 16, and it is all I remember it to be!

This is the BEST movie ever made on the sport of riding motorcycles. This movie is the reason that I became involved in and continue riding offroad motorcycles today.
I saw the original movie when it first came out and decided to by it because it had been signed by one of the movie's stars, Malcolm Smith.

This is a must-have motorcycle documentary from the early 70's. Anyone who has ever been involved with motorcycles or has even just been a spectator will find themselves smiling warmly at the screen. It's mostly geared towards the dirt bike crowd, but spends as much time in a general enthusiast mindset. Plus, it's all shot with this really hippy-dippy 70's film aesthetic. Groovy, man.

I was told that this movie about motorcycling in the early days was very accurate and would bring back those great times in that great hobby. It did not disappoint!

Awesome in '72, and still is in '08
Review created: 01/11/08

Like a lot of other reviewers, I first saw the movie in '72, at the theater. I really related then to the opening shots of the kids racing Stingrays in the dirt, which we did in our neighborhood! As I got older, started riding motorcycles in the dirt, and watched the movie again, I started to appreciate all of the nuances and the other riders spotlighted in the film, especially Malcolm Smith. He is truly one of the legends of off road racing; all off road riders can learn things from this guy. The other one was Mert Lawwill. After he retired from racing, he helped develop off road suspension systems for Mountain Bikes in the 90's.

This movie is a classic for any off road enthusiast to have in their collection, or for anyone who enjoys a nostalgic look back.

This is the finest motorcycle documentary of all time. Bruce Brown makes the movie with his awesome narration. Thanks of course to the late Steve Mqueen, who paid for the movie. I recommend this movie to anyone interested in motorcyles.

I'm love motor-cycle racing. This movie was made in the sixties, but is one of the better motor-cycle racing movie's made. Steve McQueen is in movie and I always like him as a actor, he was a true motor-cycle enthuiast. This will be added to my collection of what I consider classic movies.
