With its members formerly of Yes (guitarist Steve Howe), King Crimson (vocalist/bassist John Wetton), Emerson, Lake & Palmer (drummer Carl Palmer), and the Buggles (keyboardist Geoff Downes), Asia crafted a sound that was 1970s progressive rock glossed up with some '80s New Wave influences and polished to a radio-ready AOR shine. Although only the group's first two albums had much chart success, Asia continued (with some personnel changes) through the '80s and beyond. The two-disc ANTHOLOGIA collection was released in 2002 to mark the two decades since the band's self-titled debut took over American rock radio with bombastically catchy hits like "Heat of the Moment" and "Only Time Will Tell." The missing link between the Moody Blues and the Fixx, Asia's concise brand of prog-pop had little time for the aimless noodling of its '70s predecessors. With such concise tracks, all three of the group's '80s albums are presented here in their entirety, along with later material.
