Anne of Green Gables (DVD, 2003)

Anne of Green Gables is a story about an orphan girl who is a dreamer and strong headed. After getting kicked out of one home, she is taken in to another basically by mistake. After some trial and error, she soon finds a place in the family’s hearts and they find a place in hers. This is a great family movie. At times it can move a little slow but there are some funny parts, sad parts, but mostly just showing what it is to be accepted for who you are. I give this movie two thumbs up.

I love Megan Follows as Anne. She draws you into her character and we get to live the ups and downs with her fellow comrades and with Gil. You really want the two of them to get together earlier in the movie. I love the scenery of Prince Edward Island. So much so I want to visit the country. I highly recommend it to all young ladies first for academics and then following your heart for your fist true love.

One of my most favorite movies. I think all mothers and daughters should watch together. Great story and acting and beautiful setting. moving and touching movie.

I ordered a video as a Christmas gift, noting that it was for this purpose. Not only did I not receive my purchase by Christmas, I didn't receive it EVER. I got an email from the company about 3 weeks later apologizing for NOT shipping the item AT ALL. The one good thing I have to say is that they did credit my credit card back. But that doesn't change the fact that I couldn't give my sister a great gift for the holidays.

My young teen daughter loves this video...it's her favorite. This classic tenderly shows the life a very dramatic young orphan who is taken in by a stern but loving woman and her brother and her growth from outcast to a much-respected and loved member of the community. I am happy my daughter enjoys this so much because the young protagonist Anne in this tale grows through standing staunchly for what she believes in, while still caring about about others. Her righteousness, honesty and adorable personality keep you laughing and at the same time, thinking deeply about what is important in life. Anne genuinely appreciates others' goodness and so she is a great role-model for other teens.

It's probably the best TV movie ever. It's utterly delightful and heartwarming. Excellent family film. Have watched it many times.

This DVD is hard to find and not available in stores. It is one of mine and my little boy's favs and we were so excited to find it on eBay. When we can't find something...we always check eBay and are usually successful!

Anne of Green Gables is first-rate family fare, suitable for young children and adults alike. This film brims with humor and affection, yet there is nothing to offend even the most delicate of sensibilities in the tasteful presentation. It is a timeless story of the young orphan girl who comes "by mistake" to a stern Canadian spinster and her tender-hearted bachelor brother. Anne brings an infusion of vibrant life to their quiet existence with her enthusiasm and rich imagination, which often lands her in difficult, if amusing, situations. Set in the late eighteen hundreds, it is a rich depiction of country and small-town life which is not without its trials and little mishaps. This is a triumph of film-making, a story well told and beautifully presented. A favorite from the first time we saw it, this movie has retained its delightful aspect of gentle and touching drama throughout the years. I never tire of watching this terrific film.

This is a beautifully done version of Anne of Green Gables. It stays true to the beloved novels and is charming in and of itself. Every young girl should watch this. Every mother should watch it with her daughters. This movie follows orphaned Anne through her journey into womanhood. It's funny, silly, serious, will make you cry, and give you hope. Buying this on DVD guarantees years of lovely memories and precious moments watching this film with women and girls you love.

This is one of my two favorite movies. I love the feel good feeling I have every time I watch it. I love all the characters and feel like I could step right into Avonlea and know everyone who lives there. I love how Anne is strong willed and has such a descriptive vocabulary for such ordinary life experiences. I just LOVE this movie!!!

As an avid fan of the book, I was utterly shocked at this fantastic
film and have no qualms in recommending it to anyone. Beautiful
scenery, well paced story and a magnificent cast make this a pure
delight. Even where they couldn't be 100% faithful to the book, they
manage to make the changes seamlessly and in the spirit of the novel.
Megan Follows and Colleen Dewhurst are nothing less than
phenomenal...Follows IS Anne Shirley and though Colleen Dewhurst
doesn't physically resemble Marilla, she makes the part her own. I
wouldn't change a thing here....if you read the book, you'll love the
movie, if you haven't you'll still love it. The movie is as timeless as
the novel and I enjoy it again and again.

I bought the Ann of Green Gables Dvd and I recieved in time and in good conditions, my only complaint is that the dvd hasn`t subtitles, only can change the audio language but not the subtitles. Overall, I'd recommend the dvd if you're on a budget... the history is wonderful!!!

As a long time fan of the Anne of Green Gables series, this movie is a wonderful verson of the book. Megan Follows captures the essence of Anne depicted in the book. I bought this for my two neices and I am absolutely sure they will love it as much as I did.

Cute story. A classic. However, the quality of the dvd was pretty poor. I have a large 53 inch HD TV and this dvd was clearly not made for modern TV's. The people at time looked stretched and the quality was grainy.

However, I bought this dvd because I am going on cruise that will be taking me to where the story takes places. They are having an Anne of Green Gables excursion that I signed up for. But I had never read the book or seen the movie before.

So I got to see what I wanted to see and I did enjoy the story.

It came very quickly and was in great condition. I was very pleased with the result and that is all i have to say.

I have bought the 3disk series, but my daughter lost the first DVD so I ordered it again. The series is great, but the first part is the best one. It is nice to be able to watch a series/movie that I can watch with my daughter and not worry about seeing sex, foul language, or killing. What a fun movie.

I like this story very much, I like Anne and all her troubles she goes through.

This is a timeless movie. Anne actually says and does things that we want to but don't. While I don't have any daughters to watch it with maybe I will get some granddaughters to share it with.

i watched this movie for the first time back in the early 80's when my son was very young. I loved this movie and its hard to find in the stores. i watched it again with my granddaughter a couple weeks ago and she also liked it (she's 8). It was well worth the money. i was also pleased with the turn around from the time i ordered it to the time i received it. thanks
