The Animator's Survival Kit by Richard Williams (2001, Paperback)

I had to get this book for my animation class. I have several animation books, but this one has a great deal of information; much of the info in other animation books is also in this book. This makes it an ideal book for anyone studying animation. With this one book you have the information of several books combined. I highly recommend this book to all animators and those wanting to become animators as well.

I'm a beginner animator looking for some insperation and some help to improve my techique for animating. I heard so much about The Animator's Survival Kit book, so I decided to buy it. Well Im glad I did, it has so much wisdom and helpfull tips in it you could write another book about this book :). I would recommend it for any beginner animator and any experianced animator.

This is an excellent book for anyone into animation whether its 3d or 2d or even if you are into comics and drawing in general it teaches you how to make your work come alive.

i bought this book for my fiancee. apparently, it answers every single question an aspiring 2d (or even 3d) animator could ask. she has been blown away.

I love the detail, the scientific approach to methods and forumlas, which helps an artist record accurate detailed illustrations based on accurate movement of human behavior, giving your cartoons, illustrations and sketching life- a look that is believable.

I am a beginning animator going to an Art Institute and, I have to say, buying this book has proved a life saver! It breaks down the basics of animations (the bouncing ball to intricate camera moves) and shows different ways that you can achieve varied effects. I would of completely failed my Intro 2D class if not for this book. I just couldn't grasp the style that my professor used until I bought this book. It helped my develop my own style and ways to animate. Buy this book now!

I ordered the book by the end of August but not received the book yet. The seller said he sent 2 copies and said I returned the book. I have never done this. The address is correct and we asked the post office. I don't know why since there is no tracking info.

I got a great deal on this item off eBay and it's worth quadruple what I paid! If you like to draw, sketch, paint, or pencil on paper; whatever, this is the book for you! It's voluminous and packed with tons and tons of example, the writer has years of experience in the field; Richard Williams. If you really want to draw anime or manga subjects this book is also for you, the book also describes exactly what you need to start from the beginning even if you're a novice.
Greatly recommended for the artist in all of us!

If you are going to buy one book on animating, this should be the one. I have not found another book that explains the process in such simple detail. Thia book will not teach you how to draw. It will teach you how to make drawings come to life.

As far as i know this book is realy great, but it's now for two months already i didn;t got it. So i paid the money for nothing. I wrote about this for the seller but he didn;t answer. So i don't know is it any way how eBay can hepl me return the money or get the book.

For the animators this is the BIBLE. The best book EVER written about classic animation and a MUST for all of us, the people working in this field. Personally I send it all over the world when I work with a new team of animators. The author, Richard Williams had the privilege and the luck to work with Disney's 9 old men, the best animators in the world. All the knowledge he took from them is passed to generations to come in a very nice, easy and beautifully drawn way. God Bless You Richard!
