A totally wonderful read

This is one of the best books I've read in a long time, and I read alot. I work with autistic children at school, and have raised, trained and loved animals all my life. This book ties both of these loves together in a way that is helpful in gaining understanding in both areas. Ms. Grandin and Ms. Johnson do a wonderful job of explaining some of the differences in the way an autistic person sees the world and life in general as opposed to the way a normal person perceives life. They use very understandable examples and narrative.
Temple's life experiences as an autistic person that has overcome a great deal of the challenges that this disorder poses, to reach a point where she can very intelligently describe the differences in the way she views the world and what it was like growing up with this major challenge is very informative and interesting.
She uses many of her life experiences to illustrate how these differences help in understanding many animal behaviors in a way that was fascinating to read. She touches on brain structure and its physiology, and uses many examples of interesting experimental studies to explain the reasoning behind her conclusions.
If you are interested in finding out more about autism or about understanding animals, this book will help.
I bought this book, this time, because I want to get several copies of it for friends and relatives that I think would love reading it.
