Trivial analyses, excellent advice

The theme of this book is really trivial, which is that 'economics is a dismal science'. The authors pretend to know a better way but don't come out wth it except to say these 'animal spirits' have to be reckoned with. Big deal, as if we all didn't know already that people behave irrationally, they will be crooked, they don't take inflation into account, and they believe and tell stories. Whoop-=dee-doo. Whass' new?
On the other hand, the main message of the book is that capitalism neeeds strong government regulation, and here of course they could not be more right. We have suffered from the numbskull anti-regulation right-wing republicans more than long enough - since Reagan in fact. That has cost us the S&L scandal, the 'Long-Term Capital Management' scandal, and now of course the complete collapse of the economy, with the DJI over 50% below what it was a short 10 years ago in real terms.
So hopefully their sterling credentials (Nobelist, Yale full professor) will maube wake up a few idiot free-traders.
