Animal Genius (Nintendo DS, 2007)

I love that this game speaks to you so your pre-reader can play. My girls aged 5 and 3 are constantly playing it. It's easy to earn the rewards (collected animals) and they are truly learning interesting facts about animals, classification, and habitats. They enjoy it but there are enough games and enough difficulty that I would think a child up to age 10 would enjoy it.

This is a rather simple game to play. Displaying 5 Habitats each of which you may win up to 5 animals. The game consists of mini - games that help you learn the name and appearance of various animals as well as some important facts about each of them. To win an animal you first select a Habitat to explore then press the (A) button to get the game selection screen (Maze Munch, Scratch & See, Creature Collector and Matchomatic). You simply select a game and play it for points until you have enough to win the animal in the upper screen once you have done this you will need to answer 10 fact questions correctly regarding this animals - Habitat, appearence, food, reproduction or ovement. After winning an animal you can find it in its habitat - now and then there will be an animal Alert - at which time you go find an animal that is in the wrong habitat - you search through all 5 habitats to find the animal (I think so ya dont lose him from among your collection) -- it is a really educational and fun game for all reading ages (children that can not read well will need help & Adults will find this game rather easy yet still fun and educational)

This game is not what I expected. Its a very childish game, it would be fun for someone younger than 12. It will entertain you for a few minutes and then it gets boring. Its a good game for young ones.

We all love this game. I don't ever play video games but, I have picked up my daughter's ds to play in the car. She is only 4 but she can still manuever through. My son is 7 and of course he has no trouble at all.

Animal Genius is an excellent game that teaches children about all kinds of animals. My four year old loves it because it is easy enough for him play, yet my seven and ten year olds still like it because it holds their interest.

Easy to play with great visual, and teaches fact about animals and different habitats. my six years old son enjoys it alot!

Daughter loves the game. She loves anything that has to do with animals.Anyone that enjoys animals would enjoy playing this game. She has not put it down since she got it.

What a great learning game,My son could not put down his DS! It's a great way to teach kids about animals & figure out puzzles,mazes,matching & more!Even us adults enjoyed playing :) You won't be disappointed if you decide to buy & at such a great price too!

FINALLY, a Nintindo DS game my preschooler can play by herself! I give this game a thumbs up for preschoolers and elementary students alike. It is also educational, which is a big plus. It has really grabbed my preschooler's attention with the neat games it has. Even her other siblings (and me) love it. Definately a good buy!

I would highly recommend this product. No reading is really required. All directions, etc are read out aloud. It is enjoyed by a three and seven year old.

my 5 year old loves this game and can not put it down. the game also tells the child what and how to do the games. truly awesome game. highly recommend for children.

Easy to learn and pick up on. Daughter likes that she can accumulate many species of animals anf learn about them.

This was the perfect game for my 7 year old daughter who loves animals! She did seem to finish the game in a short amount of time, but she played it a lot, and she told me she didn't want to sell it even though she finished it. I wish scholastic made more games like this!
