If you played any of the previous animal crossings this should be right up your alley. I purchased this for my kid who has already enjoyed the previous AC's (DS & GC versions). What's pretty neat about this one is that if you have the DS version it will let you port over your data from the DS. This way you can continue with the same character profile. Graphics are about the same but look nicer especially because it runs in 480p now. One thing I've seen so far that looks cool is you get to take a bus to a "city" location. That should add a new twist to the game. I really like it for kids because it has so much good dialogue. I feel it's really helped my kid to become a better reader. Pick it up if you like a good sim, I don't think you will be dissappointed.

Please do not get me wrong, this is a great game IF you have never owned Animal Crossing for the game cube or the Nintendo DS. If you have and are expecting something different, you will be extremely disappointed. It is almost exactly the same as the previous two editions with only a few changes. I personally did not like playing it on the Wii as the Wii remote made movement a lot more clumbersome and actually getting the pointer on the item you wished to use was very awkward. This game is better suited to the handheld DS game in my opinion because it is definitely a one person game and for those of you who have played the DS or Game cube version, you know that changing the date to move forward in the game is a must and this is just not as easy on the WII. It definitely is not worth the $49.99 MSRP!

Animal Crossing City Folk (Wii) was just like the original Animal Crossing, but in a different setting. My 7 year old grand-daughter just loves it. It involves quite a bit of reading which is good for a second grader. This game teaches practical skills like earning money, and responsibility in spending money. It also teaches social skill in reacting with the other characters in the community.

fun game that gets you sucked into it. trying to catch each fish, bug etc. And getting a huge house and decorating it. You can also go over to your friends town and play with them or have up to 3 other people come over to your place. Its lots of fun.

This game is so addicting, I play it everyday. You basically build a town and live there with other animal characters. You can add up to Four people from the real world. You can travel to the towns of your friends who have the same game and are connected to the Internet.

For anyone who loves Animal Crossing, this is like the deluxe version! Its very fun to play! I got it for my mother who broke her knee and it is a great time for all of us to play! The price was great for shipping and the game! Much easier than going to the store to buy it!

Why do I keep buying these games?

It seems all I ever do is complain about how much time my kids spend on their game systems yet here I go again investing in a game that encourages long hours of play with no end in sight. My oldest has been angling for this game since before it came out. The boys are thrilled. Personally I think all the Animal Crossing games are as boring as watching paint dry but who am I but a mother. Your kids will love it. My oldest likes the fact that he can import his character form his DS game but he started from scratch here anyway. My kids are 3-16 and all of them play this game.

to sum it all up right now it is a must by game also check out accityfolk on youtube
Ever since the debut of the Wii two years ago Nintendo had been hinting that the company would eventually be bringing its casual and social "second life" game Animal Crossing to the new console. In that time Nintendo could have really knocked our socks off with an experience that advanced the classic game with a scope that pushed it in unseen new directions. But it's clear that someone at Nintendo tossed the DS cartridge at the Animal Crossing team and said, "here's your design document. Get to work." Animal Crossing: City Folk is a great conversion of Animal Crossing: Wild World, but as a console sequel? It's pretty lazy, and it's hard to praise phoned-in work like this.
And that's unfortunate, because the Animal Crossing game is a praise-worthy product. Back when the original title hit the GameCube (which was, admittedly, a ported and upgraded N64 game that only shipped in Japan at the time), it was actually amazing to essentially experience a game that pretty much revolved around the simple things in life: gardening, shopping, fishing, chatting with neighbors. The game had no end or ultimate goal beyond living the best life you possibly could in this animal village, and even with the limitations Animal Crossing was incredibly fulfilling with new things to experience on a daily basis. All of this was improved on with the Nintendo DS follow-up that took the life online and let friends all over the world visit each other's towns to see how they're progressing.
Animal Crossing: City Folk admittedly doesn't claim to be a full-fledged sequel but it certainly hints at that with its new subtitle. At the very least after six years and two previous games in the Animal Crossing series there's a bit of expectations out of Nintendo updating its successful franchises: you would think that the designers would love to get their hands dirty and actually attempt something a little more ambitious than simply converting existing ideas for Nintendo's latest game systems.
To put it another way: Animal Crossing: City Folk wasn't made for Animal Crossing fans. It was made for those that missed out the first two times. And for those people, you've got yourself a fine product. To those that helped make the first two games a success: maybe Nintendo will thank you some other way, because City Folk is only for you if you want to go through the same things all over again.
That doesn't sound like such a bad deal on the surface: if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and if it was such a great game before it'll be great playing through it again…right? That mentality doesn't really apply to Animal Crossing because the bulk of the experience is doing work. You know, chores. Things you should be doing instead of playing videogames.
Right from the start you're put to work by the game's laborer: Tom Nook. He gets you started learning the ropes by sending you all over your town – randomly generated during your question-and-answer session on the bus trip to the village – performing duties like planting flowers, delivering packages, advertising his shop, and writing letters to your neighbor. There's a reason for all of this even though this all feels like indentured servitude he's really giving you a tutorial walkthrough explaining all the little things you can and should be doing in Animal Crossing. And once you've completed your duties, you're set free to pretty much do whatever you want.

Animal Crossing is by far one of the best games. Almost anyone can play it. It is fun and always changing, which keeps it exciting. What is nice about this game is that it doesn't stress you out. Its relaxing and fun. Its intriguing because you play it and you have no idea why you like it so much! It will capture anyone who tries it. Great game for everyone.

Nice paced game for relaxing fun. Lots more to do on it than the GameCube one. If you liked the one for the GameCube then you will like this one. Interacts nicely with the DS game. Easy controls to do the activities. I got this game as a replacement for one we had that stopped working and still we are finding new things out. My 3yo loves going to sleep for her nap while watching this.

I purchased this game for my girlfriend. She rented it in blockbuster and had to have it!! The only negative thing that I have to say about this game is that you can only make 4 accounts. We have 7 people in the house, that leaves 3 out.

This game really is for everyone.. My 7 year-old granddaughter loves it, and my 64 year old husband is addicted! Compared to the GameCube & DS versions, there's alot more to do & alot more to 'figure out'. (but who can't love the originals?). This is the only video game out there that actually teaches some virtues, while providing hours & hours of fun. It takes a year to complete because the game actually takes you through all four seasons. Don't be tempted to 'play' with the calendar and/or clock.. (that's cheating!) ~ you can't go wrong with this game!!

  Animal Crossing - City Folk

If you played the previous Animal Crossing games then you pretty much know what you are getting with this one. Its a lot more of the same which I guess could be taken as a positive or a negative depending on how you look at it. There are some new features that are neat but not a lot is changed.

If you never played the Gamecube or DS version of this game, you are in for a treat. For people who have played the other games, unless you really really love all things Animal Crossing you may want to pass on this one as there just isn't a whole lot of new features.

This game is the perfect thing to relax and unwind at the end of the day. You don't win, you don't lose. You just PLAY! Unlike a lot of games where you have to get all stressed out trying to win, with this game you just wander...collect fish, bugs, and fruit. GREAT game for kids also! Not a single speck of violence!
