  Nothing, but art.

I saw this documentary in college and I loved it, because Mr. Goldsworthy makes art out of natural resources and all four seasons. The only thing I didn't like was that the documentary dosen't last long. I Highly recomrnded if you enjoy the nature and if you taking an art class.

  Rivers and Tides

I would rate this as excellent. This is the second copy I have bought, having given one away to friends. I used this as a teaching tool for my ART 101 class at a local college in Massachusetts. The students respond well to the work of this unique artist. It's a fascinating dvd about a fascinating artist, Andy Goldsworthy.

Great gift to get or receive ! You don't have to be an art lover to appreciate the concept of Andy Goldsworthy's work. I saw a documentary and wanted to share it as well as have one for my family.

An amazing DVD of truly unique art
Review created: 11/09/08

The work of Andy Goldsworthy represents some of the most beautiful and frustrating creativity imaginable. The fact that he uses no paints or otherwise tools is commendable. Nature is his canvas and as soon as the project is finished, nature has already begun to reclaim it.

  Rivers and Tides

I used this DVD as part of my art class for junior high and high school. We watched and discussed the DVD which held their attention over a two class period time, then we went to a state park and the students tried to recreate and create some of their own art based on Rivers and Tides.

  Interesting, but not riveting
Review created: 06/11/08

I liked the smooth progression from one artistic piece to the next, as well as the real-time views of the work in progress. The film truly gives the viewer an insight into the process of each piece Andy G does.

But if you're looking for action in any sense of the word, look elsewhere. Emotions come slowly, like a small snifter of brandy in a cozy chair by the fireplace. Other similar films I've watched had more of a sense of motion and captivation.

  living art
Review created: 12/08/07

andy goldsworthy's art is great in photos.
but i have to say that seeing his art in motion has so much more to it
and seeing him in the process of creation makes you feel a connection when nature agrees or disagrees with what he's trying to accomplish.
truly amazing.
another thing i liked about this documentary is how it was filmed and directed. plus the music of fred frith. it was like a collaboration of many great artists. the same with "touch the sound" which was done by the same person.

  Simply amazing!!

I had not been familiar with Andy Goldsworthy's work before seeing this video. It started out rather slow and I wondered why I was watching it. As it progressed, I was drawn in with each new idea and art rendering. The man is truly gifted and has a wonderful imagination to come up with his works of art from the world around him. He is not like Christo who brings in man-made objects and creates show-stopping works. Rather, his art is "quiet" and unobtrusive, yet powerful. By the time the video was finished, I was totally hooked and had the urge to go out and create something. There are several coffee-table books about Goldsworthy's work, hoever, many of his creations are dynamic-that is, they change with time and they move with the tides or the stream flow. It was totally by accident I saw this video and now I have also purchased the book "TIME" which contains many of the works in the video. They are a nice set.

  A Special Treat

I am not a sculpture whiz but I really loved this movie. It was so calming to watch him move build his art so carefully outdoors...so contrary to the life I live here in Chicago. I don't get to witness such patience & perserverance often, if ever. I found the DVD inspirational and have leant it my friend Kamelia, who is also an artist.
