Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera (Blu-ray Disc, 2006)

I saw the show in Chicago on a live stage and thought I would never enjoy it
as a movie. The feeling of seeing it in Blu Ray was a treat that I'll newer
forget and I have purchased my own copy as a muct have item for my collection.
The movie was truely magnificant and the music I think I enjoyed almost as much
as seeing it live.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, in my opinion, is the greatest attempt from stage to movie. From the wonderful (and talented!) cast to the extravagant sets, this movie is one of my all time favorites. Nominated for 3 Oscar's including Best Achievement in Art Direction, Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song and Best Achievement in Cinematography. Golden Globe nominated for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy and Best Original Song - Motion Picture. Not only was the film a critical success, but die hard theater fans also enjoyed the relevance to the classic stage production and the film's acknowledgment to the original book, The Phantom of the Opera. Whether or not you have seen the stage show or read the book, the film is a must see to anyone who enjoys talent, excellent writing or well thought out sets.

Great story, fantastic soundtrack, outstanding photography, and super special features. What's not to like?

The picture is amazing, the deep, rich sound even more amazing. This makes even old rockers like me enjoy Broadway. Turn the volume up and fasten your seatbelt! Damn the neighbors ----turn it up some more!

Remarkable movie...great additional features with Blu-ray. The acting was compelling and the story line keep the interest at all times. The extra feature about the making of the movie added so much to understanding and appreciation for the art of play- and movie-making.

This movie was made beautifully, and it shows. Bright colors, detailed sets, and overall quality production value.

Obviously, being a motion picture, more can be done to the story and locations, since a stage can only accommodate so much.

Saw the movie in theater, bought it on regular DVD, then bought it on HD-DVD, and now Blu-Ray, since the format war is officially over.

However, still owning both high definition versions of the film, the Blu-Ray version (WB should have used the same digital transfer for both HD & BR) is quite pale and muted, compared to the rich and vibrant HD-DVD version. I have replaced other Warner HD titles with BR and have seen no difference between the format versions. Very strange.

If you like Phantom then you'll love this film. This Phantom may be a bit young for Christine, but the actor does a great job as the main character. Definitely more smoldering and passionate than Michael Crawford, aka Condorman.

The Phantom of the Opers has always been one of my favorite plays and this movie version comes pretty close to the play. The bluray effect helps to make you think that your in the theater watching the actors live.Well worth the price.

I love the music, the story everything. The book is wonderful too. To me it's like the story of the ugly duckling only he lived in real life and didn't get to turn into a swan, but did the right thing anyway.

If you like the play you'll love the movie!

I love the movie it's an amazing adaptation of the opera. The music is great and the acting is great. If you love musicals this is a must have.

I've always loved The Phantom of the Opera. I owned the DVD before I purchased the Bluray and played the Bluray for the first time in hopes the picture and sound would blow me away, and it did. Great picture and sound make me feel like I'm at a movie theater. If you like musicals, The Phantom of the Opera is a must see. And, if you own a PS3 or Bluray player, the Bluray version is a must buy.

I love this movie! I am a huge fan of musicals and of course romance movies and this has it all! This timeless musical has been around for many many years and this remake was a wonderful respark in the interest of the age old story.

Watching this movie on blue-ray was amazing. The colors even more vibrant than I remember watching it in the theater. Must see.

great movie of Andrew Lloyd Webbers broadway play. And its in 1080p. Sweet. I am looking forward to watching it over and over again and again. I would highly recommend this fro anyone that loves musicals.

Great performance by the actors. Good voice and great acting skill.

To transform a stage musical into a movie, Andrew Webber had done it again. More and better visual effect in the movie and the sence, back drop were just as matching.

Too bad that story had a sad ending. Wonder what had happened to the phantom? Is he still there? To understand the plot, you should read the story book. It explained the details of the story which was just brought over in the movie in details.
