Their name suggests a duo, but Iglu & Hartly are actually a three-piece, a fact that's still surprising considering the range and variety of sound their full-length debut, AND THEN BOOM, serves up. Drawing on New Wave, dance pop, and rap, Iglu & Hartly blend bubble gum hooks with driving beats and a glitzy, Technicolor sonic palette that evokes the glamorous sprawl of Los Angeles, the band's home base. The singles "In This City" and "Violent and Young" are standouts, but the album delivers fizzy, fun retro-glam-electro-pop from beginning to end.
