AND NOW THE SCREAMING STARTS - A Peter Cushing Classic
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
The legendary Peter Cushing, Herbert Lom, and Stephanie Beacham star in this superior entry in British horror from Hammer rival Amicus Productions.
AND NOW THE SCREAMING STARTS was filmed in 1972, shortly after ASYLUM, which also featured Herbert Lom and Peter Cushing, and was also directed by Roy Ward Baker. It was a busy time for Mr. Cushing, who would star in six films that year, including a return to two of his most beloved roles - Van Helsing in THE SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA, and as Baron Frankenstein, sadly for his final time, in FRANKENSTEIN AND THE MONSTER FROM HELL. Also of note, is that four of the six films Mr. Cushing made that year would also feature his good friend and fellow Fantasy film giant Christopher Lee.
Atmospheric, and with excellent performances by all, most notably the great Peter Cushing, this ghost story is one not to be missed by fans of the Golden Age of British Horror (me included!).
This DVD edition features exciting special features, including commentary by director Roy Ward Baker and star Stephanie Beacham. So turn down the lights, get out your favorite snack, put the kids to bed, and prepare for spooky fun!
