Originally issued in 2004 and finally released in the United States during 2007, AND LOVE SAID NO culls the finest songs from HIM's pre-DARK LIGHT material. In addition to two previously unreleased tracks (the mid-tempo title song and "Solitary Man," a Neil Diamond tune famously covered by Johnny Cash), the collection features the love-obsessed Finnish goth-rock band's best-known numbers, including the ominous "Your Sweet 666" and its brooding take on Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game," a track carried by frontman Ville Valo's expressive singing and Mikko Lindstrom's blistering guitar riffs. As a solid introduction to the melancholy metal of HIM, this compilation is ideal.
