Ancient Coin Collecting II by Wayne G. Sayles (1997, Hardcover)

A nice introductory overview of Greek coins. Good line drawings. I can recommend it for those desiring a scattering of knowledge of Greek history and its coinage, but not for those who wish in-depth knowledge. It is very good for those who occasionally come across ancient Greek coins while pursuing other types of ancient coins, be they Roman, Provincial, Byzantine, Arabic or Oriental.
This work is part of a six-volume set that provides a broad overview of how ancient coinage provides us with a greater knowledge of the evolution of society--from the first crude blocks of stamped metal to the more highly sophisticated coins of the Byzantine. The final volume in the set contains a general overview of five different cultures.
