Publisher's Note
This book outlines a thousand year chronicle of environmental and cultural history that provides an experimental basis for explaining broad patterns of interaction between humans and their environment. It sets a new precedent in archaeological research, and at the same time serves to link the ancient past with the modern world.

Industry Reviews
A week-long seminar at the School of American Research in Oct. 1981 heard most of these papers at a seminar entitled "Anasazi Cultural Developments and Paleoenvironmental Correlates". They dealt with many aspects of climate and its changes: historical perspectives; a model of behavioral adaptation; alluvial chronology and hydrologic change; vegetation and paleoclimates; dendrochronology; demographic patterns; demography and cultural dynamics; and adaptive strategies. These are very important contributions to Anasazi studies specifically, and to methodology in archaeology. Annotation copyright Book News, Inc. Portland, Or.
