AMY (1981) Starring Jenny Agutter
AMY is the story of a woman who is attempting to teach deaf students who live at a boarding school for blind and deaf children to speak. There are many tragedies both for the students and the staff: despite the over-the-top melodrama at times, this film can be a tear-jerker.
There is a romantic subplot betweeen the teacher and the doctor, with the twist that the teacher is still married and has left her husband, who has a private investigator searching for her throughout the film.
I recall this movie from "The Wonderful World of Disney" hour. It is VERY tough to find. I don't know if it was released on DVD, because it was one of the less well known Disney movies.
