Amusement Parks On Fire [Digipak] by Amusement Parks On Fire (CD, May-2005, Filter US Recordings)

I have been listening to indie/punk rock for 12 years now. If you like My Bloody Valentine and want a little more melody, than this cd is for you. This is a work soley created by one person. Amusement Parks on Fire is now currently a full band, but you need to note that as of 2005, this was just a 16 year old kid from the UK making music on his own. The record sports a wide variety of instruments with distorted guitars, piano, and string arrangements, and a lot of ambience. The vocals are soft and melodic and I would like to hear a scream once in a while. This is a great starter album. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Out of the Angeles. This is the second album where Amusement Parks on Fire is now a full band. This band is highly underrated. Both albums have made my list of top indie/punk records of all time. Even the legendary Bob Mould recommends this band. One disappointment on my side is that this album was released on Sony records. I am am DIY guy at heart, but the band is so phenomenal that I got past this gray area. Not to worry, purists like myself will love the second album because the band is not longer on a major label. It's funny, a 16 year old kid gets on a major with a good piece of work but when the kid forms a full band and produces a phenomenal second record they are back on an indie label. If you are interested in the second record Out of the Angles, get it from Amazon. The sellers on this site are asking for an arm and a leg for it. The second record even comes with a dvd.
