A Tribe Called Quest's Q-Tip has played a very important role in hip-hop. And though loyal Quest fans dreaded the day that the members of the threesome (sometimes foursome) would go their separate ways, everyone longed and waited patiently for the highly anticipated Q-Tip solo joint. With that in mind and a mic in hand, Q-Tip comes correct on his debut album, AMPLIFIED.
With this album, the Abstract One makes it clear why his music has been so influential. The always-original Q-Tip is the type of rapper who makes his own trends. He also possesses nearly peerless skills as an MC and producer. The club-ready "Breathe and Stop" makes it hard for anyone to stay off the dance floor, and along with the album's other tracks, helps carry out a more mature hip-hop sound. Throughout AMPLIFIED, collaborations are kept to a minimum, allowing Q-Tip to show off his versatility. Two exceptions, however, are "End of Time," which features rock stars Korn, and "N.T.," a track on which Q-Tip shares the mic with longtime friend Busta Rhymes.

    Pros:
Will make you bounce and mellow you out at the same time- Ya can't beat that.

    Cons:
Image is nothing but Yo I got a thirst?

It's not surprising that I am a huge fan of this album since I am a big "Tribe called Quest" fan. It hurts me to say it but I was disappointed by their last album (snifle, snifle, cry, cry), so when I heard Q-tip was going solo-to say I was thrilled is an understatement (Now we are so happy, we do the dance of joy, com'on you remember "Perfect Strangers", admit it) So I tried not to be to excited because I didn't want to be disappointed but I couldn't help it. And let me tell you I not at all disappointed, I dig almost every song on it. The one song with "Korn" (who I also love) sounds a bit...

    Pros:
quality listening from start to finish

    Cons:
    only 13 songs

Breath and Stop! That's what you have to do when you listen to Q-Tips new solo joint "Amplified". You'll love this so much that you may forget about the world around you stop everything else you were doing. Q-Tip gives it to you from start to finish. Of course, you probably already know about the two singles out now, "Vivrant Thing" and "Breath and Stop". If you don't, you must not have a radio, a television, and a pulse. At first these were the only songs I wanted to here on the album, but after listening to the whole thing on a road trip last week, I am a believer. The best thing about this.

    Pros:
    10+

    Cons:
    None

What can I say? Many people think that when a successful group breaks up, the individual acts just can not be successful. This could be no further from the truth in the case of Q-Tip. A fan of A Tribe Called Quest, since the early days, this album has a the bomb beats, and tight lyrics that one would expect to hear. Vivrant Thing, the first single already has party people shaking in the clubs, and Breathe and Stop is moving in to become a party anthem as well. I love Q-Tip's style and voice. Any true Tribe fans will know where I am coming from. Amplified is sure to please. Another newer hip...

      Totally Amplified

    Pros:
good beats, smooth rhymes, great lyrics

    Cons:
    Korn is a guest

Smooth free flowing rhymes are the trade mark of Q-Tip who is original with all his work. His style is one of the most enjoyable to listen to and turn the volume all the way up! Get this CD because when I first listened to it I was surprised. I wasn't surprised that I liked it, I was surprised at how good it was and everything I heard on it. Just amazing. The only downside is Korn. I didn't like the song and I don't like Korn at all. They messed that song up so I just fast forward through their part. Busta Rhymes works perfectly with Q-Tip. I like Busta Rhymes' song "Ill Vibe" featuring Q-Tip.

      What happened to Q-Tip?

    Pros:
    booty shaking girls in video

    Cons:
    the cd

I checked out this album and gave it a listen through the whole thing. The next day I returned it. I was really disappointed with the cd in general. The main reason why is because of his new image he has gotten. Not to sound like everyone else when I say he "sold out". Tribe called quest was one of the few groups that you knew was going to be on top of there game on the semimainstream level. You never knew Q-Tip during the lp Midnight Marauders would go to the level of breathe and stop or vivrant thing. He also did a remix with Missy for vivrant thing. When tribe disbanded I knew fife dog was.
