Synopsis Isabel dreams of going to school and becoming a teacher, but she lives in a small Guatemalan village where she is expected to follow tradition and get married rather than have a career. To further complicate matters, her mother is sick, so most of the family responsibilities fall on Isabel.
When her mother becomes ill, Isabel, a Mayan girl living in contemporary Guatemala, must care for her and continue her search for her own identity in a world fraught with upheaval and change.
