I really liked the stories that went with each quilt sample. I just wished there would have been patterns so that I could cut out and make the quilt pieces as I read about them.

This book, like every other Rosemary Youngs book, is well researched and concise. The patterns are authentic snd well documented. The patterns for the blocks and the pieces for the patterns are authenticated with choice of appropriate fabrics. The reproduction fabrics that are suggested are wonderful and relatively easy to locate within the quilting community.
I had no trouble locating appropriate colors and patterns within the fabrics to make all of the blocks in the colors and patterns that I wanted to use for this quilt. I purchased several reproduction fabrics through e-bay and I also went to three local quilt shops and found historically correct and appropriate batting and backings for this quilt.
I have set upon the idea to make this particular quilt as a wedding gift for the daughter of a longtime friend. The young lady was raised in Amish country in Pennsylvania, and is now working with a degree in art history and textiles. I wanted to make something that she could value and appreciate as much as her parents love and appreciate her. I happened upon this book and the idea struck, it has been a beautiful project and I do appreciate the work that Rosemary Youngs and her fellow quilters have put into this project. I am looking forward to the next book pattern project, if I ever get the darned book delivered from the seller!! The Civil War Diary Quilt and the Dear Jane Quilt have fabrics waiting fot the arrival of the books. These will be done wver the next year as a gift to my friends, the parents of this girl are restoring a civil war era home in Pennsylvania and the quilts will be presented to them as a housewarming gift when they are finally completed and ready to move into their dream home in the mountains of Pennsylvania. My hands will be busy for several years, as will theirs, they are doing the work on this house all by hand and the restoration process is taking a long time with all the research they are doing to keep it date and historically authentic with the addition of electricity and running water and modern appliances, hoping that their helpful contractor will stay alive long enough to complete the project, we are all in prayer and hoping that the whole thing comes together as planned. God often has other plans, we can only hope....Thank you God for this book and the others my Rosemary Youngs. The inspiration and creativity is appreciated on may levels.
