America's Best Lost Recipes grew out of a nationwide contest for the best heirloom recipes and then they were tested over and over by Cook's Country magazine. The book is filled with our heritage and the ties that bind families together. A lot of the recipes may look familiar to you, but you will be reading the best of the best tested, so no fear in failure! Have you tried Mashed Potato Fudge......or how about the funny named, Mile-High Bologna Pie! Lots of color photos and even some pages for you to put in your own families's lost recipes. There are side notes on how the recipes were tested and most important, each person who's entry was selected tells in their own words the history behind their recipe.
