American Stars 'N' Bars [Remaster] by Neil Young (CD, Aug-2003, Reprise)

I bought this new back in '77. I was 14, and though I didn't think it was bad, it wasn't one of my favorites. I was (like Neil, actually) swept away by Punk, and this went to the back of the collection. But "Bite the Bullet" got stuck in my internal soundtrack, and I hunted this down. Usually, songs don't sound as good as I remember, but "Bite..." rocked. "Like a Hurricane" is what people talk about, and it's a great guitar work-out, but the country honk of "Homegrown" and "Saddle Up the Palomino", ragged in all the right places, also are great fun songs. The sound of this remaster is also quiet good.
