American Spirit by Mannheim Steamroller (CD, Aug-2005, American Gramaphone Records)

I was hoping to hear some upbeat, inspiring renditions of these patriotic songs. The quality of musical performance was high but they were not the high energy, uptempo, make you wanna move rythms that I expected from M S.

I like patriotic music. I like Manneheim Steamroller but... this CD was a disappointment. The tunes were not Manneheim's usual upbeat rhythm and sound.

For those with a taste for the country style music of C.W. McCall (Convoy, Black Bear Road) combined with the unique sound of Mannheim Steamroller, this is for you. I highly recommend it as a good listen. Enjoy.

Gave it a try - kinda sorry we did. We thought it was too slow and too "talky".
Patriotic? I guess so - But, in our opinion, NOT inspiring. The music itself was high quality, and a few of the tracks were sorta' enjoyable, but some of the vocals, which I would call "Charlie Daniels/Johnny Cash type hillbilly/rap/singing" was not our thing.
We were expecting Steamroller style symphony-ized/synthesized musical renditions of American favorites.
Instead, it was more like wagon train and marching band.
If you like old western/southern/country and parades - you might like this.
If you are simply addicted to Steamroller Christmas music, don't bother with this CD.

This CD is very good quality... normal for Mannheim Steamroller.
I like the selection of songs and the style in which they are done.
I purchased it because I wanted to try some Mannheim Steamroller other than their Christmas CDs. I was not disappointed.

A True Case of AMERICANA!! AN AWESOME DVD!!!! C.W. McCall does an AWESOME group of songs. Nice and clean ut for everyone.
