I bought the book because I have always enjoyed the fact that Lacrosse was played for centuries before the Europeans came to America.I have been doing research on the subject for 35 years because I am trying to find the origin of the game. This is a valuable historical account and shows how extensive the game was. The author also discovered many cultural secrets that I have not seen written in other accounts and did a reasonable job of avoiding his own cultural bias.
I purchased a very old lacross stick years ago with unusual markings and carvings on it and I was trying to determine the origin.I felt that the presentation of the stick revealed a strong spiritual presense of the orginal owner and also felt that the game of lacrosse was also spiritual in nature to the tribal people who played it.
I didn'r rate the book higher because I felt the story on Fort Mackinaw was weak and almost a paraphrased fictional account of the real event which was recorded earlier by the British soldier who survived the surprize attack. That account was extremely dramatic.
I decided to buy the book on EBay because like everything else on EBay it was a deal and as my Brother Lee says,a deal is a DEAL!
Most of the time EBay is the real DEAL!!!!! I really enjoy buying and selling on this world marketplace and can't wait until new countries are opened up.
The person that sold this book was a expert at EBay sales a very smooth and trouble free transaction.
Sincerely,
Woody
