This 2006 collection presents each of the 12 finalists performing one song, with standouts including Kellie Pickler's swaggering cover of "Walkin' After Midnight," runner-up Katherine McPhee's soulful take on "Think," and, of course, winner Taylor "Soul Patrol" Hicks's energetic, spot-on rendition of "Takin' It to the Streets."

    I was a die hard American Idol fan, but was not thrilled with this season 5 CD. As a McPheever fan I was disappointed with Think. It sounded as though she was screaming the song. Taylor is great as usual and surprisingly, I really enjoyed Ace Young doing “Father Figure”. Paris also sounds good. The other songs tend to be forgettable but it seems that Elliott Yamin’s version of “Moody’s Mood for Love” is the winner.

    This American Idol Season 5 Encores CD is a good buy. The CD is impacted with a group of Talented people who have appeared in Season 5 of American idol. Many of the voices sound much different in studio then what you hear on television, so when you buy this cd you actually get to hear what your favorite would sound as if they were to make a record of their own. All in all a good buy and great pleasure to listen to.
