Here, extensive highlights from the show offer soaring vocal performances, the early audition footage of those who made it to the final stages, some harsh words from Simon Cowell, and some slightly kinder comments from his colleagues Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson. The winners of the first four seasons--Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, and Carrie Underwood--have all their greatest moments recounted, while other popular contestants who made it through to the final stages get another chance to demonstrate their talents. All the tears and sadness of those who didn't make it are also included, making the experience bittersweet for some and euphoric for others, which is exactly what fans of the show have come to love and expect.


THE WORST OF AMERICAN IDOL SEASONS 1-4: When AMERICAN IDOL first graced TV screens in 2002, the search for the next big singing star threw up a mixture of the talented and the terrible, as thousands of eager participants got the chance to audition for the judges. On this collection, some of the worst wannabe idols, who only got a mercifully brief glimpse of fame, are featured. William Hung, who gets the unenviable honor of being the cream of this particular crop, is the most famous of the bunch, even scoring a record deal that highlighted his inimitable lack of vocal talent. Among the other highlights are the two worst performances from each of the first four seasons of the show, some of the harshest criticism doled out by the judges to this vocally challenged group, a look at some of the worst outfits worn by the contestants, and a collection of the weird and wonderful lengths some people will go to in their attempts to be a star. A testament to the entertainment value of the show, THE WORST OF AMERICAN IDOL SEASONS 1-4 offers a bewildering yet highly amusing array of truly talentless singers.
